Vees are cheapest by quite a margin

Irish f vee has become a bit diluted in recent years with ff1600, sheane rovers and now f5 taking more of the sharp end drivers. F Ireland died a bit of a death and most cars are in the uk now doing f libre type events.

As regards slicks and wings i don't think the aero package on a rover has much to do with overall setup (open to correction) and as F5 is only new i can't comment on thier overall package altough i do believe that the chasis is based on a modiale ff1600.

Budgets can be set as high or low as you want but in my opinion if you can't win in ff1600 or any of the other above mentioned competitive formulae at home in Ireland then to move on to big budget racing in the uk would be a mistake.

Just look at the success of Irish competitors on the clubman scene in ff1600 this year.

I'm not really sure what the deal with formula V is really - I never considered it is a choice when I came out of karts. I just didnt see them as a very marketable option I guess.

For me FF1600 has a lot more to offer, and seems to have several top class graduates. I think the 1600 racing is very competitive, and the scene is thriving. For someone looking to prove themself they are 2 key factors.

Budgets can be done sensibly - not hugely more than karting. I'd say a season of 1600 racing can be anywhere from 8-18K...

Remember that Irish and UK Vees run to different specs.

Also, worth noting that there is one heck of a lot of young talent now going from karting into Vees. And the cars now look much better.

Vee is probably the most competitive single seater class and you can do some internatonal racing with it too. Best way to learn citcuits and racecraft I think.

Budgets to be competitive in Irish Vee (running your own car) excluding an engine rebuild or major crash damage are in the region of €7,500.
