Why do LMP1 teams spend all the extra money compared to LMP2 where they could fight “fair”?

Overall podium, the potential of overall wins if you get lucky, being able to build your own car, being able to run all pro teams.

Some just want to race at the very front.

Edit - Right on queue, Conway is told that Fernando is faster than him.

Cheers, I knew they had a nose ready. Didn’t know if it was just in case it or if serious.

Interesting that when the 7 one had a nose they still had a stop 2s quicker than the 8.

He did look like he was. In clean air the 8 easily caught the 7. We’ll see if one was trying more.

Yeah, to be fair Alonso was immediately on the back of Conway once both cars had cleared traffic. I've not got timing on, has Alonso picked up the pace since he got to the lead?

He's dropped Conway by over 4 seconds so far.

I saw the first stop where this caused a little problem. Didn’t see the last couple of stops. If 8 is in the lead the pit stops, if they stop at the same time, get easier.
