Post Germany driver rankings. Leclerc was 3rd last race, he is now out of the top ten!

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/f...ck-exit--.html

Was that a sign that Leclerc is not 100% ready for Ferrari? Do that in a Sauber and it will go mostly unnoticed. Do it in a Ferrari and... well, not good.

One might say, on the evidence of Germany, Leclerc is as 100% ready for Ferrari as Vettel is.......

Another great Q3 drive from Hamilton. Using different lines to others to get the best out of the car. Where were the Bulls?? Hungary, and the wet weather was tailor made for them. Vettel once again turns into jelly when water is added. Alonso has beat Vandoorne every quali this season. That's 12 in a row, and 17 in a row continuing on from 2017. Vandoorne maybe changing teams next year I think.

Losing out to your team mate by less than 3/100ths of a second, over half a second ahead of the next best car. Hardly sounds like 'turned to jelly'?

Vandoorne’s jaikit must be on a shoogly peg, as the Scots have it. After dominating GP2 and showing well in Super Formula (though not as well as Gasly after him), he’s been pretty anonymous in F1, stomped on all over by Alonso in what is an indifferent car. Shown no sign of strength in adversity. Half a dozen drivers on the grid could do the job he’s doing, and probably better - Magnussen, Pérez (both dropped by Woking), Hülkenberg, Sainz, Gasly.

Also conveniently forgetting he was in excess of 2 seconds faster than the field in Q2. In the wet.

Someone conveniently forgot to mention that when Vettel did that time, he was the only one on intermediates, while the rest were on slicks because only the final sector could really be considered "wet". The rest of the track was barely damp at the time. A lucky call by the team. Nothing to do with his driving skills.

That time was set on his very first timed Q2 run with 11:44min left of the 15:00min session. Then the rain really came down and the entire track was wet. With under 10 minutes left, no one else had set a time apart from Vettel.

Then in Q3, when it really was "wet", and everyone was on equal terms with full wets for their final runs, Finger Boi got done over by his number two driver, and was struggling to even keep the car on the track.

In excess of 2 seconds faster than the field in the wet indeed! PMSL!

Just to confirm I am reading the table correctly - when one driver has a DNF, the teammate is automatically given the point for a better result?

I'm not sure, because some of these numbers don't add up? 12 races in, Lewis versus Bottas is 8 v 3, which is 11.

My take on that is that both drivers DNF'd in Austria hence there was no team winner ..... reduces it to 11 .

Hamilton on pole with one of the best laps around Marina Bay ever! Brilliant! Lewis said "Pssibly the most complete lap I have ever done." This track is Mercedes bogey track, and Ferrari has been strong here so it was a surprise to see Hamilton beat Vettel, and by a fair margin. The time for Hamilton's pole lap is almost 10 seconds faster than the time he did in 2014. That is a fair increase in speed for the F1 cars around Marina Bay, which is described by many drivers as Monaco on steroids.

Vettel needed to be on pole here. He has the best qualifying record around Singapore. But only managed 3rd when it really countered. He said "I think the gap is quite big. I think Lewis had a really good lap, so congrats to him for the lap, I'm sure it was a good one -- but I don't think it was unbeatable." Well why didn't you then Mr Vettel?? The radio between Vettel and Ferrari in Q2 was interesting. Vettel arguing with the team on which tyre he wanted. Seems as though Vettel is trying to run the entire show himself.

Max put in a great lap for P2. Same spot as last year. Getting in early.. I'm going to say the crash that is going to happen at the start will be Vettel's fault, just as it was last year.

Williams dismal season has resumed normal operations. Monza got a few excited that Williams had turned a corner.

Magnussen and Vandoorne absolutely squashed by their team-mates.
