Orange Fleece?
I have seen some fellow marshals wearing orange (appear reversible to blue) fleeces. Unsure where to get one from, as the only thing I can find is fleece lined body warmers.
I know.... it would have been easier to ask someone "where did you get that from?" Anyone have any info? |

You can try a couple of places. First Erid Ridler the BMMC National Regalia Officer (contact details on the website www.marshals.co.uk) and second AWS in Ashford, Kent www.advanced-wear.co.uk

I bought mine at the Autosport show years ago. I presume you are referring to the ones with the "Heroes" badge? If so, you are correct that they are reversible.

Mad racer......do you mean you can't wear the fleece, or your proban shorts on circuit?
If it's the latter then I thank the Lord as you have not been blessed with the legs of Elle McPherson have you? (I think someone said they'd seen better legs on an oil rig!) If it's the fleeces, then I have worn mine on numerous occasions and have no problems in letting any of my crew do the same. (Not that they'd take any notice anyway). |

Fleece does tend to melt if exposed to heat. If got a fleece jumper with a large hole in that was casused by a stray spark from a bonfire. If it's cold I prefer an extra layer under my probans.
For wearinf to and from a circuit though I think that they are a great idea. |

I am not saying I never will wear it track side, but my original question of where do I get one from was to "support the cause" and wear it in the evening after a meeting. |

In cold weather how the hell are we supposed to keep warm? No, don't answer that, any of you. If I'm cold I can't function properly as a marshal, so I wear my fleece. If it's wet I wear a waterproof jacket (which presumably also doesn't comply with FIA rules because it doesn't cover my legs and most certainly wouldn't be fireproof) and if it's really wet, I wear waterproof trousers as well (which incidentally aren't orange - do you think it matters? ) Anyway, I've just realised that if this is just an FIA rule then the answer is don't do FIA meetings, stick to clubbies and wear your nice fleece whenever you like! |

Oh something I forgot to mention. What I wear at any meeting I attend is bought out of my own money. If "they" don't like what I wear then they should provide me with what "they" want me to wear.
Which is what the RAC did a few years back when we all attended Sillystone in RAC overalls. What they didn't do though, was provide us with suitable wet weather gear. As I recall, we were instructed under no circumstances wear wet weather gear which would cover up the sponsor's logo. What the hell were we supposed to do? Get soaking wet, risk pneumonia and fail to turn up on race day because we were all in the med centre or resort to whatever wet weather gear we had available? I believe most of us chose the latter option. |
