What do you think of Georgio Pantano?

Interested how you guys rate F3000 pilot Georgio Pantano. I followed him loads in Karts but haven't yet had a chance to see him in cars.

He was a bloody exciting and mega-fast kart driver, albiet a bit too cocky for his own good sometimes. Kind of guy that would either amaze you by winning in spectacular style or crash warming up his tyres for qualifying!

Also, what did he do when he tested F1? He must have sucked quite badly to never get invited back again. Or did he just try and pull Flavio's bird?!

Pantano should do well, if Super Nova pick him to partner Tiago Monteiro.

Pantano undeniabley has speed, but he was a little too inconsistent in F3000 last year. If he can iron this out, in "much more of a racer's car (Justin Wilson's description of Lola's latest effort)" then he should fly. He'll need to beat Pizzonia though.

Driver #5 for TEAM ASTROMEGA, Giorgio Pantano
Finished 8th in the championship with the points of his victory in the last race, promising driver!
Back next year, yes!

Giorgio is the best!!I haven't seen a driver like that in years!!Oh my mistake, there is one driver that is better:Fernando Alonso.I rate Giorgio as a future F1 champion!!I've been told that he is VERY fast, but that he needs to learn that he can't always be the fastest driver on the track.Besides that hev has the potential to become a great driver!!The only question is will Team Brask have enough money to support his F1 career??He tested with McLaren and Benetton and did WELL!!

Cheers

Ho no I like Alonso!!!
I was sad to see him leave Minardi for a test drive at Renault.

It is nice to see that there are other people who can tell how good he is!!Believe me,you haven't seen anything from him.The way he can understand a racecar!!!His problem in the first part of the F3000 campaign was his English. Now that that is sorted out,he's up for some great things.Still I think that he should have stayed with Minardi,He doesn't need a test-contract with a top-team to get himself in the picture. The top-teams will come to him.(He's one of the nicest persons in today's F1)

Already denied:
News about Rob Nyugen

Some rumours in British press and at some unofficial websites Team Astromega is believed to pull out Rob Nguyen and replace him by Giorgio Pantano. Today 25/02/02 at 20.00h + 1 cet there is no such move planned. All official press releases of the team will be released at team-astromega.com or will be send by e-mail from teamastromega@hotmail.com

I think Giorgio is struggling for money.

Super Nova are stringing along two of the best F3000 drivers out there. Now the signing of Monteiro is confirmed, either Bourdais or Pantano is going to be left out in the cold, with very little time to find a seat. A little unfair I feel, as the only other available seats now are with European and Coloni. I suspect that's how this rumour started - what would Giorgio do if....

Personally I think Pantano is overrated, he made far too many costly mistakes last year, like throwing it off on his out lap in qualifying at Hockenheim and outdriving himself on the closing laps at Silverstone, throwing away a points finish, if I remember correctly.

I think Pantano has money problems:Team Brask will end their sponser agreement with Giorgio,as they are strugling for money.Giorgio could steal the drive from Rob Nugyen as the team still has an option for him.Forza Pantano!!!That's what I think is going on.To bad for Rob?I don't think so.

Pantano did a very good carrer in F3 , but in F3000 or you are in a good team or your carrer could be destroyed.
He arrived in F3000 , and he did win a race, but lets see this year in a front line team!

I think Giorgio Pantano is a fast and aggresive racer. Firstly I'm afraid he will step up quickly to F1 like Raikkonen, but finally he moved to German F3 and won the championship with maestry. Last year he needs time to adapt the F3000 driver skills, like Alonso, but like him when he got the hand on the car he managed it to win.
I think there are still good F1 chances for Giorgio, who can be the next big Italian F1 racer after Trulli and Fisichella.

Are you saying that Team Astromega isn't a front line team??I can't agree with that, they had a very strong engineer line up last year and with Mario Haberfeld's engineer joining the team, the team will be stronger!!

pantano is a fast driver but he just cant keep his cool sometimes he tends to make mistakes when put undr pressure , a lot of races i have seen in karts he would get up to second place from nearly last and then come off
