From what I saw of him in Super GT, All-Japan F3 and Macau, Makino might be the best Japanese prospect to come around in a long, long, LONG time.

Makino has impressed greatly in tin tops, but his single seater record isn't any better than Fukuzumi's. I'd say it's worse.

1st year in cars: 1st in F4 for Fukuzumi, 2nd in F4 for Makino
2nd year in cars: 4th in F3 with 2 wins for Fukuzumi, 5th with 0 wins for Makino

Fukuzumi was also a bit younger when he started racing cars.
