Why?
When we have more than enough classes already, do you we really need more? Kramer |

There gonna be knocking them back with a big stick when they find out the entry into the series is only a miserley $250 large + GST and another paltry $28 large + gst for a "management" fee, PER CAR sorry SUV per year.
Just what we need to join up with the new BMW Mini series as well. |

Maybe they should talke to Bob and Mick if they are looking a for cheaper entry into motorsport, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is an off-road racer - LOL

Of course you'd know that by having a look at the posted link as well. Thats if the BF Goodrich tyres didnt give it away first.

I think the whole concept looks bloody fantastic, but then I am bias because I helped create it. I appreciate everyone’s comments as it is an honest appraisal. I would like to take the opportunity to explain some of the myths and hopefully clarify some points for you.
Firstly Kramer’s Question of why? Our research showed that there is more than enough room within motorsport. Firstly we have a major point of difference in that these cars can cross over between an asphalt style event or rallycross as planned at Oran Park, or they can do some serious off road racing which we will be doing. Our event structure also mixes the racing up to offer exciting racing for competitors. The car is absolutely brilliant to drive and yes we have already put the test car on its lid at our test track. Mountain star, Refer above R2J2G, I think this is the sexiest Territory around, although it might be a bit hard for the mums to park whilst dropping junior off at school. Bullett, We are working on six rounds initially two in NSW then one in WA, SA, VIC and QLD and I think we can expand to more in year two. Areas such as Warwick, Gunnedah. Who knows we might even have a stadium event at Telstra stadium one day. Gydafud, Yes to the average punter like you and me $250,000 is a lot of money, but I can say that there are lots of people that go motor racing that spend far more than this to do it. The majority don’t gain any commercial advantage out of it they simply do it for the love. As these cars are purpose built for the job the costs to run a car over a season is greatly reduced. The technical side of the sport had to come with a common sense approach to motorsport, thus keeping the costs down. Interesting enough the DTM’s are using a similar approach for next year because it was getting to expensive. We are not in competition with the bmw mini series, or any other series that runs solely on tar, perhaps categories like Aussie cars are. Interestingly though, I feel that the top runners in that class once it starts getting serious will spend far more money competing than someone in a controlled formula simply due to the repair and maintance costs of a car that is not designed to go racing. Oran Park was the first opportunity we had to showcase this to the public and although the weather kept the numbers down the response from enthusiasts and competitors alike was fantastic. Cheers scan |
