Frank Williams does have an Heart !

Reports have it that Frank Williams and his team have took Jenson Button to one side and told him to keep his chin up.
Is Frank just looking after his investment or does he really have an heart.
I thought it was a nice gesture either way, from the normaly ice cold Frank.

F1 is big business, so Frank Williams is a big businessman, who has to make some tough decisions from time to time. He has to keep his sponsors happy and maybe he even wants to satisfy the Williams fans now and then. I don't think he 'trows out' a driver just because he doesn't like the guy, but only because he thinks he has to in order to get the results he needs. I actually believe he is more prepared than other top teams to give a young and unknown driver a chance, which doesn't exactly make him look heartless to me...

Frank Williams is a smart cookie. Full Stop. He's always done what he feels is best for his team and thats the way it should be. Obviously, a lot of people have given Frank and Patrick a lot of stick for the way they`ve treated their drivers in the past but the fact is - despite all that - a lot of top drivers want to drive for Williams because they`re one of the best teams in the game. Frank did the right thing by letting Button go. Montoya deserved the Williams drive far more than Jenson Button becaude, quite simply, Montoya is a far better driver. At the same time, Frank's keeping himself covered in case Montoya somehow or the other fails - or if Ralf is lured to Mclaren or Ferrari in '03. But all things being equal, Ralf and Juan are likely to stay at Williams far beyond '03 and I doubt whether Button is coming back to Williams in the next 4 seasons at least.

So, while it was a nice gesture - Button should'nt be hoping for much - Im pretty sure he`s stuck with Flavio and Symonds for another couple of years.

For all his faults, I think frank loves racing and loves racers. I think he was deeply impressed by JB last year and by giving him encouragement he lets him know that he's not forgotten.

Frank Williams is a great businessman...but he also has a heart. In many occasions he showed that...in many interviews...and call him Sir Frank Williams...lol.

Well Frank is a tough Bussinessman, and sometimes he has to make tough descisions. I would hate to be in the position of having to kick a driver out of my team, even if they deserved it. But at the end of the day, you just want to get the best results possible and you do what you need to do in order to obtain that(within the regulations of course).

The best thing Frank Williams did was to kick Damon Hill out of the team. Unfortunately, he went backwards when he asked Heinz H Frentzen to replace him. However, he's made up for it by hiring Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya. Williams has always been a competitve team to work in and a tough team to perform in. But if you can perform for the team and stay loyal to them then Frank Williams and Patrick Head are the best people to work for.

He is a better man than Ron Dennis but he has been hard on English drivers, Mansell he let go after proving he was more than a match for Senna, Hill went but deserved it and noe he lets Button go, The Williams team is many things but not a place for a British driver, there is no national loyality.

Every time Frank Williams is asked about his drivers, you will always get the line, that all he wants is his cars to win. He's not bothered who's driving them, as long as they get the results.

With Williams its the Constructors Championship first & everything else second.

If its not about who's driving the car as long as they are doing well for the team it does beg the question as to why Ron Dennis has allowed Coulthard to keep his place in a front running car but has delivered only satisfactory results, or is Dennis different to Frank Williams in that he sees more to it than results???
