4 in 2014, 4 in 2015, 2 in 2016 for sure. So they're almost 10.

As luck would have it ....
HSCC series has always had an invitational class for cars other than Group A and Super Touring with a similar level of performance that fitted within the series ethos. S2000 wasn't specifically mentioned that's essentially where the class was aimed. Up until last year Steve Dymoke was a regular entry in his ex Giovanardi S2000 Alfa 156. As a genuine ex-factory, ex-championship winning car in correct period livery, it pretty much summed up the series ethos.
This year there's been a subtle chance. Instead of having a fairly generic catch-all description, the class now specifically mentions pre-2006 S2000 and BTC-spec cars. The pre-2006 restriction was partly chosen to give a cut off between E46 and E90.
I don't know yet what the take up will be like. There are 2 or 3 S2000 that I think we might see plus a BTC car which I hoping will be out.

Cost might be an issue, though. Those engines are quite pricey to run and lack some of the cachet of the Super Tourers.

Sure, but presumably cheaper to run than an ST.
Way out of my league anyway.

and the SEAT Leon ,
so those old SEAT Toledo that Bartie likes to bash and lament would be eligible
and looking back those Chevy Lacetti, Honda Accord and some Ford Focus would be also eligible then

It's weird to think of an E90 as historic (or even sson to be) - this has made me realise that I still think 'new 3 series' when I see one...

No immediate plans to do TC1. Although in theory they are still based on the old S2000/TC2 regs, I tend to regard them as a completely different category.
There hasn't been a lot of movement of cars between teams so far, and if I'm honest how much of a future the category has.
That said, I wouldn't rule it out complete. I haven't been actively seeking out information but have been making a few notes whenever I find something of interest that might be of use at a later date.

Just to give you some ballpark figures.
BTC-T : about 50 cars
NGTC : about 50 cars
S2000 : we have a just under 200 listed; there are probably closer to 400 in total
There are current 100+ TCR cars, with more being built every year. I think we have enough to do already!
