Second British GP
Will the second Silverstone event have a different name as they have done in Austria?
GP of Northampton?
Saint Nicola would like a Scottish GP but that would have to be at Knockhill.

Yes,
Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix 2020, followed by Emirates Formula 1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix 2020

It kind of rolls of your tongue doesn't it?
Lando, when did you win your first grand prix?
Yeah, that was at the Emirates Formula 1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, back in 2020.

I'm sure it will become known by something else when the drivers refer to it.
I can't recall anyone commenting on their performance in the 'Formula 1 Rolex Grosser Preis Von Österreich 2020', or how they are looking forward to the 'Formula 1 Pirelli Grosser Preis Der Steiermark 2020'.
I think a clue comes in what F1 put in the Browser Tabs for each event:
[All suffixed by 'Grand Prix 2020']
Austrian,
Styrian,
Hungarian,
British,
70th Anniversary,
Spanish,
Belgian,
Italian

Seems appropriate it is the Emirates GP given the grandstands will be empty.

For me it's just Red Bull 1, Red Bull 2, Silverstone 1, Silverstone 2.
Pretty dull compared to the fancy official names

I find it quite offensive that we have a Red Bull Ring...... What a bunch of twaddle.

Well they pay to keep it open, so their choice I guess and thanks to them. When I went there it was the A1 ring. I don’t drink A1 either
Although if I have to come up with my own nomenclature it would be Austria 1 and Austria 2.

Rename it the A2 Ring for this weekend and have it sponsored by a milk brand.
It is Lando's track now after all, everyone else is just permitted to race on it.

Personally i do not care what they call the track/race, as long as there is racing, wonder if Durex still do sponsorship now that would upset loads of people

One thing the naming of races / circuits seems to suggest is that naming rights to a circuit might have more marketing impact than naming rights to a race.
Without checking, how many people immediately know the title sponsor of either Austrian Round?
Yet the majority (I would expect) know the races were held at Red Bull. This is something that would also continue if Red Bull were no longer involved with F1 I think, because until the naming rights to the track change hands, the venue will still be the Red Bull Ring.

Osterreichring was a great name for a great race track. Really seemed to fit it

Just had an email from silverstone saying tickets for the 2021 british gp are now on sale, not even had the two 2020 races yet.

The first race, which is the 2020 British Grand Prix, should have 70th Anniversary included in the title, as it was the British Grand Prix which was the very first Formula 1 Grand Prix 70 years a go. The second race can be the Emirates or Pirelli Grand Prix at Silverstone.

They could probably do with some cash flow. And from a ticket sale perspective it can give them something to do!
