On current form Dan is class of the field and could walk this championship. But is he fully funded for the season? He's one of those real talented drivers who always seems to struggle at getting budget sadly ☹

Dan is in this series as he couldn’t find a seat in the BTCC. I’m sure he’ll stay. Hopefully budget won’t be a problem

Two solid races at Knockhill. Plenty of action for the number of cars entered.
I hope the lack of reliability of the Alfas will be sorted out. |

I'd expect Dan couldn't find a seat in the BTCC because he has a history of not completing a season. And teams don't like having to find a replacement driver midway through the year. |

Laser Tools withdraw: https://www.touringcars.net/2018/05/...-tcr-uk-series
Pretty huge blow for the series. Hope it recovers. |

Interesting quote, I wonder if Bob Moffat means the organisation side, or something with DPE, or the chassis builders?
"Certain decisions and actions have made us completely lose confidence in the series, and after a lot of thoughts and discussion we have decided to call it a day." |

Lost confidence in the "series".
No idea as to what he is specifically referring to: where there any dubious or bad decisions made by the organisers at the Knockhill round? |

Looks like it was surprise to the organisers too:
“We were surprised and disappointed to learn of the decision by Laser Tools Racing to withdraw from the TCR UK championship, particularly since we read the announcement at the same time as the media. “We would like to thank the team for its participation in the series and wish Aiden every success in the future.” |

Maybe he feels having tried the series, he feels it’s better to concentrate solely on the BTCC

I thinks its all of those factors, he's only finished 1 race and broken down in the other 3. Maybe at the start they thought he'd be on for an easy championship win and after last weekend there was now no chance, plus Moffat has had the best opening 2 meetings in BTCC points wise, so its better to focus on that.

Smells like politics here, not to mention the fact that he is not winning.

Yeah, I'm thinking that the Moffats are thinking "this car sucks, it's costing us money, we can't finish a race never mind win a championship", let's blame somebody else. Sadly far too much of this goes on.
I always find it refreshing when some of the NASCAR boys screw up and hold their hands up. No blaming some other sucker for their own mistakes or failings. Let's hope the other teams and drivers are more interested in competing than finding excuses. |

TCT alludes to lack of professionalism on behalf of the organisers?
"Showing strong pace to qualify on the front row of the grid, Moffat was unable to finish either race as a result of mechanical issues whilst there was also known to be frustration about the procedural issues that occurred in the run-up to the opening race – where he was briefly moved up to pole when four cars were excluded from qualifying prior to a successful appeal." Maybe not informing the team the standings were provisional pending appeal? Then lots of red faces after putting out PR about a result followed by backtracking maybe? |

Well the Alfas will be staying in the championship with Robert Gilmour taking over the Moffat car. Also Lines and Swift will be running their Cupras together under the Maximum Motorsport name - makes sense I guess as they'll be able to share data / spares etc.

Good 😁
Let's hope the Alfas reliability gets sorted and that Mr Lines can learn from his fellow drivers data. |

Curious thought. Is there an equal number of TCR cars in the UK either not racing at all, or racing in other championships than those entered in TCR UK? Including UK based teams running in Europe or International. I think the figures would be close.

I'd have thought there are more UK-based TCR cars not running in TCR UK than there are running in TCR UK.

16 is modest, BMR probably too busy concentrating on the BTCC
