There were two big accidents in Sunday practice, from both of which the drivers thankfully emerged unhurt. Moose demolished the tire barrier at the finish line, and Chris Merrick was airborne and crashed heavily approaching Hall Corner. Moose then borrowed Simon durling's car for Sunday, making his one point in Round 2 particularly commendable, and Chris Merrick put in herculean efforts (with help from other teams, in the best tradition of hillclimbing) to repair his car for Sunday. A pity driver error ruined his time in Round 1. Martin Groves/Paul Ranson had car trouble all Sunday morning and just managed to get the car to the line for Round 2, when it ran in its usual stunning style. A very long day on Sunday (three runs each), better on Monday, marred only by delays caused by timing problems during Round 2 runoff. Weather typically April, sunny/windy/showers at various times, but overall a typically enjoyable Loton weekend. Here's to Prescott in three weeks!

Wasn't Willems car quick though?

Annoying that it is for me to say it's going to be a serious contender as far as i'm concerned.

i'll stick up for chris it was down to driver error it was the same technical fault that caused him to stop at post 1 on the practice day. the wire behind the ignition switch keeps coming lose.

Jerry Sturman told me that Chris knocked the switch which either caused the wire to drop off or cut the switch!

Pity he didn't fix the wire properly!

Sounds like an eventful week-end for Chris Merrick, then. He's usually a pretty reliable competitor - quick but safe. Similarly Moose may often look like he's going to leave the circuit, but rarely actually does so. I'm pleased that both came away without any personal damage. Perhaps a sign that everyone's trying very hard right from the start this year?

We did indeed have a busy day on Sunday but it all ended fairly happily(only wallets were the eventual losers)..
Monday it was good to see both drivers who had offs the previous day competing...

Must say once Willem gets to grips with that new toy of his I can see it being seriously competitive..

Thanks to all who assisted us with the incidents we attended..

A quote from the paramedic on Sunday..

"Anybody watching would be forgiven for thinking you guys did it for a living"

Praise indeed from a man who has worked with those who do actually do it for a living...

Well done everyone.....

I agree, very interesting to know the full story behind Paul & Martin's problems.
