Escort sadly a non runner so withdrawn from Monteblanco, Plus 4 entered for GD instead. Dilemma- 2 days on beach or fix head gasket on BDG? Answers on a post card......

Hi All,

Some pictures from Saturday, a couple of the Big Americans and the tiny F500.

Opposite the pits there are two large electronic displays which are impossible to read.

The pit lane marshals have some interesting safety wear.

The Masters Touring 70's/Sports Prototypes from the Grandstand, a strange mix of cars I thought but it's because they all run on slicks.

How did that Alfa qualify amongst those Prototypes? but it then blew the engine of the first lap.

A picture of Mr Bell racing down the pit straight then considering his options in the pit lane.

The quickest thing down the pit straight all weekend.

I suppose it had the advantage of not quite touching the tarmac.

Thanks for the advice on the camera settings Grant but I didn't see your thread until this morning. For this sequence I just pointed the camera and held the button down.

At the track in the Algarve you can buy a "Hot Lap" in the pace car for 90 euros. It went fast enough down the pit straight for the roof lights to blow off.

After that it only had a single orange light on the roof.

I didn't see the safety car go out all weekend but they do have plenty of recovery trucks and a perimeter road around the track with tunnels back into the pits.

Looks like the perfect strategy for that sequence. Did the pilot complete a timed lap?

It's really a file sharing site. Would probably work best, if one can see the screens, by ticking an entire folder for download and then browsing locally.

The guy in the plane was AMAZING, I have never seen anything like it, unlike Goodwood this was down a live pitlane and main straight, you can see the marshals by the side of the circuit - they must have been almost able to touch it! Really quite extraordinary!
Talking of coming out with parts we had a rear spring break on the Falcon so one of Bruce's guys flew home Saturday evening, collected a new pair of springs and flew back out Sunday morning, all with Easyjet who could not have been more helpful - a fantastic effort all round.

The plane was awesome and a highlight of the weekend: and you'd thought a McLaren or Lola was impressive!

Top outing - although I was at work really - and a shame there weren't that many spectators.

Access to fuel in France

Anyone thinking of making the drive back through France - bear in mind current strikes / blockades which appear to have resulted in severe localised shortages of fuel (especially diesel) in France. Worst problems quoted as being in Brittany and in southern France but problems throughout the country apparently.

Getting lots of TV coverage in the UK - and maybe being overplayed - but I thought it worth mentioning as I seem to recall a few people drove down & back the long way last year.

Well another great season comes to an end in a superb setting. Had a great couple of races in the FJ with a first and second finish. The second place was with oil over my rear brakes and tyres which made the Elva broadside even more than usual. However the best race of the weekend was on the kart track with Mr Rowley we spent 20 Min's side by side changing places almost every lap head down to keep the speed up excellent fun Ian actually won with a well timed dive down the last corner unfortunately for him the time sheet said otherwise and I was awarded the win by two hundreths......... Sorry Ian ???

Great to meet Roger Wills at the BBQ I hope you had some good races Roger hope to see you next year and maybe one day race against you.

As Simon said the guy in the plane was mental really spectacular.

The Portimao circuit (and sunshine) really has to be the best way to finish a season if you have the means and haven't done it yet this is a must for next year I will certainly be going if I have a car.
