Hi,

Some of the F1 cars from practice on the Saturday, I tried for some shots as the came over the hill at the back of the circuit but it was a bit beyond the man and camera.

That looks suitably scenic Steve. No chance of getting anything like that at Silverstone! Well, not from any location I am aware of.

Are they the full images? If so there may be some opportunity to crop a little and dig out more of the detail should you wish to. Stuff that we just cannot see in the smaller sizes used for the web.

I noticed the blue humped thing inside the kerbs in the sports car shots. Somewhere else I saw a shot with a GT40 (iirc) seemingly beached on the same sort of structure. Is it (or 'are they') as unforgiving as it looks?

Yes- do not go there! The CoC called then 'aide memoirs' or something! Instead of tyres apparently.......

Hard day today- mountain biked from Lagos to Luz along cliffs. This euro historic racing lark can be tough.

Great to meet Mr and Mrs Furness" Mike kind off explained the Grant P understudy thing.Shot gun seat resereved for you Grant next year.I did not get a race this year but i wont go in to that.We had to change the engine on the17 overnight and Jim decided to the GD entry. However i thought it best to do a couple of laps in the race just to make sure all was well after the engine swop and had a great couple of laps diceing with an Elan ,Morgon.and Healey. Great fun.We then went up to the kart track "again"

.As Ben said had agreat race with him.I think the result was printed from the lap before.I could see the Marshall with the<chequered flag in his hand and knew i would only get one chance to overtake Ben and make it stick.Sure enough my 40 years of racing paid off.Returned to track to be asked by a certain Knight if i would drive his car in the finnal FJ race. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Sadley the Portugal officials would not allow me to take over the drive.Bo----cks. Galaxie ran very well. Chuffed to bits with that and now seem to be getting on better with John Fitzpatrick. He drove very well and between us we have got the mighty beast going well now.Having a nice time with Mike Bell ,Mk 1 Mart and my mate who just does not stop talking.

Reads like a good trip, on balance, Iain. Just be sure you don't get conned into a drive back through France - they are all on strike and setting fire to anything that moves (according to the UK media ....). Plus there is no fuel (according to the UK media) unless you are in certain places where there is fuel (according to a Total spokesperson.)

Grant, yes the F1 shots over the hill have already been cropped, from your'e earlier post how can you tell what shutter speed I was using ?

It was great to be at Portimao during this fantastic weekend, even only as spectator!

The kart race was very nice; thank you to Iain for organizing that race; I'm sorry for pushing out Jan .... In any case we had a lot of fun.

I got the biplane passing over the finish line: crazy!

I note that a number of 10-Tenthers featured in Autosport's report of this meeting, due either to success, or bad luck. Mr Hadfield fell into both those categories; I wouldn't have wanted to be sitting next to him when the LC gear lever came off in his hand! Plenty of podiums all round so well done to all and our well known entrant who won the Pre War class of Legends race with Gareth Burnett and Leslie Ames in the 105s.

Whoa, seem to have missed a few days of this thread somehow.

Great comments and some super photos.

Love the look of the weather and just look at all those empty grandstand seats ... hmm.

Had a similarly sunny morning on Wednesday at the Mallory test session but somehow I don't think the temperatures would have been comparable.

Steve, as I recall I checked the EXIF information in the file to see what settings you were using. Sometimes the EXIF data is available, sometimes not. Depends how it has been processed and where it is hosted.

Actually when the gear lever came away I was reasonably laid back, we have had the most amazing reliability with the car this year (and some good fortune - the exhaust primary that fell off and into the steering link at Silverstone and then bounced out as the jammed steering took me across the kerb!) and Leo's first stint was quite exceptional. To go from the back row (12th at the end of the first lap!) to 2nd overall in that company was exceptional and was one of the highlights of my year - as Metallica have said; the memories remain! So the overriding feeling was really one of sadness that we couldn't celebrate Leo's drive in the way we should have, some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you!

Succesfull Bryant Lola Coupe. The Autodromo Portimao has a very convenient service road following the track. This shot is taken from the bridge crossing just after the 3rd bend.

Sadly adventure to Portugal and Spain coming to its end. We are all getting bored on the Ferry.Still 4 hours to go.So far Ive watched Toy Story 3Mike now watching the film, which was brilliant and today the "Clash of the Titan's" "Fell asleep.

Ended. With a crap journey from Portsmouth to home that took over 5 hours. Lashing down with rain, rubbish road surface, heavy traffic, no diesel at first 2 gargages stopped at (from HGV pumps anyway), M25 gridlocked to west so drove long way round through tunnel.........

Seriously good time had at Portimao despite Escort head gasket eliminating it from second race, so thank you Masters for swapping my Monteblanco entry to GD. Morgan coped with 2 hours there without hesitation, despite the right hander with nasty bump and compression both at same time. Had to keep tightening hardtop mounts as chassis flexing was working bolts and screws loose! Only criticism of circuit from most was heavy tyre wear from abrasive surface. Oh, and showers that were only hot for first day, with no water on last day! Maybe they could also reschedule the night shift that hoovered the whole circuit in early hours and carried out all other maintenance very noisily. Not so good for those in trucks or motorhomes!

Bay of Biscay like a millpond on way home- thankfully- and Toy Story 3 very much enjoyed by 3 of us, all who confessed to wiping away a tear at the end! Iain annoyed as was a DVD player in HGV lounge and hadn't bought 'Le Mans' with him.

Fabulous journey through Spain and Portugal has got me thinking.....

Yep had radio 2 on the way home Mike and both me and Mart thought of you and the journey round M25.We got back to Henley on Thames at 8pm then had a craving for a McDonnalds.Mrs Delta keeps asking "whats wrong" guess just wishing the trip had not ended.Still one week to go before set of to Nurburgring.
