Now that I can help you with Rob, you must use silicon sealant on that little rubber gasket at the back especially where it joins the main gaskets, it is a very critical area and will mean lifting the manifold off to do it correctly. Some builders ditch the rubber gasket and just bed the manifold on silicone. What manifold are you using because Real Steel should have something that will suit but it should come off clean anyhow.

It was pretty well dolloped with silicon when it went back on, my builder in the UK did say that they can be a b1tch to seal up. I'm going to get the spanners on it tomorrow before loading up for Silverstone (EERC Test/Press Day on Friday), and will give it a tweak. It may just be that the bolts have come loose, knowing how that varmit vibrates, anything's possible!
I have tubes and tubes of silicon (left overs from Jordan's job.... ;-) ) The manifold is a pukka Chevy Motorsport job for their 18deg heads. The rocker covers only weep a tiny bit now - probably need taking off, cleaning up thoroughly, and putting back. When they had the cork gaskets, they dribbled worse than an MP on budget day (or was that drivel?) Rob. |

Good luck, you know what rocker covers I found the best? The cheapest, Moroso pressed steel or aluminium with the Corvette load speader piece under the fixing nut, seals them up good and proper. I am surprised the thing vibrates like you say do you have a flat plane crank in there!

An old age pensioner they called in in Motoring News, thinking of cancelling my subsciption ,more than likely the only racer who subscribes anyway. I must admit that I now receive a donation to my racing budget from HM pension service, they promptly lowerd my tax code to make sure I pay for it,again.
Rob, check the heads have'nt been skimmed to much and the manifold is not sitting flush to the heads,or should I keep my nose out and stick to my Ford V8 flat tops. |

Oi stop pickin' on Nova boys. We'll get the barry boys to come round and fit some Lexus rear lights to your Fiasco.
I really must dig mine out of the weeds. Unfinished business you know! Wonder if the Belmont's engine will fit...... Look forward to seeing you all on the 15th. Rob. |

I was at Brands today for the BTCC press day and the back markers were only about 3 seconds per lap, (of Indy circuit) quicker than the front runners in TRC class E! (Up to 1600cc, dual valve, full race) Just goes to show how quick some of the TRC cars are on a fraction of the budget! Jas. |

I'd love to make Brands GP my first race, but circumstances dictate otherwise. I need to learn to say "no" to astras. I'll be registering as soon as I know which one and which engine i'll be using. |

Firstly, on behalf of BARC south east, many thanks to everyone who has entered. 44 cars will make a great site, and this will be one of the biggest grids seen at Brands. It also justifies the huge financial risk the centre took in organising this race.
The final instructions say the circuit is opening at 8 am on Saturday, it should read 6am. At signing on you will receive two coloured roundels for class identification. Yellow for class A, blue for B, orange for C, green for D, red for E. These are to be affixed to top corner of front windscreen (on opposite side to which the driver sits) and the rear nearside passenger window. Hopefully this will help the commentators and spectators (yes we are expecting some) to identify the various classes. The comment has always been that we have had a variety of same model cars (e.g. Peugeot 205s, Ford Escorts) but they are in different classes. Finally, Mike Wilds will be attending to receive the charity cheque from the "grand draw" at the centre dinner dance. This presentation will take part in the collecting area before our first race so you can all see it happen. The money is going to the "British Motor Sport Relief Fund", an organisation which supports injured/hospitalised marshals or drivers at any of our venues. The second nominated charity will be announced on the day, which should enhance environmental issues. |

Forgot to say the roundels are 100 mm diameter (or 4" for our imperial friends), and they are free.

44 entries! Wow what an event to be part of, I am really looking forward to this, well done all those at BARC SE for their very impressive operation and of course Rod and Co.

Get there early and put the wagons in a circle. Do we have to keep the roundles on all season , or only Brands Hatch?
Cant wait, will be fab. Borris the Blade. |

P.S. What if it is left hand drive, do we still stick it on the oppersite side to the driver?

Guess it must be early in the morning or late at night wherever you are Graham! The class identification stickers are for the whole season, unless you fit that BIGGER engine.
