Risky pitting with 66 left, guess they're going for another yellow and cruise. So far a bit of a meh race, rather the under mile ovals myself

Congrats to Alex Palou on back to back driver's championship and his 3rd overall in 4 years. Shame Will Power had the safety belt issue, as the excitement of a potential challenge for the championship in the season finale fizzled away.
Congrats to Colton Herta on his first oval win. He finishes 2nd in the championship. |

I'm actually pretty interested to see what fox does with the coverage. I've liked it on NBC this year with the peacock practice and qualifying sessions. Not sure how that's going to translate to next year, and who they decide for the actual broadcasting team will be interesting.

I’m worried, generally. It might be big smelly pants.
And specifically do Fox have an equivalent of the ‘cock? |

Oh pants (clean), I thought I’d already posted this.
Go Alex Palou! Well done! |

My concern is whether Sky Sports F1 will continue to show IndyCar over here. Sky Sports F1 are owned by Comcast who also own NBC.

Overall, I thought 2024 was good a season. However, I have some trepidations about 2025, particularly about it being a 6 month season and ending at the end of August. What will be telling, is if Fox's coverage will help generate interest in IndyCar and develop the fan base.

In the US Tubi is a free streaming service by Amazon. Was coverage for Indy announced for the service? |

Not at all a Fox TV product, it carries contracted Fox material and not all programming, at for US users. It is a Fox Corp distribution product and has very weird restrictions on content but has other network content as it was produced by Fox but sold. It's a weird thing to catch older viewers and cord cutters, often with Amazon services. It does have more viewers/registers users (it's unclear which they mean) than Discovery Plus and Disney Plus in the US but those numbers are weird because you can have Disney Plus with your Walmart Plus subscription and unclear how that is reported. User numbers are great fun to read about and yes, they are being used to create see Tubi and Amazon use ads so why shouldn't we for all manner of things and it sucks Fox, Disney (ESPN, ABC) and Warner/Discovery have each put in a 33.33% stake in Venu, the new streaming platform for their combined services to take on cable and issues with their own low take on Discovery Plus and Disney Plus with added live material. Fubo, and others quietly, have sued on what can be called generously tenuous at best and frivolous at worst TRO to stop it and filed in Southern District of NY because they are vehemently anti-businesses working together to be "bigger." Dish and DirecTV have submitted briefs as they see the writing on the wall as Venu would carry almost of their main programming at a massively discounted cost for equipment. The feds in their wisdom have stayed out of it so far as nothing has been approved yet but likely can't cry anti-trust as the partnership is in content allocation only, they all have to provide their own and have minimum viewer percentage targets or they can be penalized From all I've seen from legal folks it is expected to be approved and doesn't have much need for federal oversight as it is not a communications platform in the traditional sense and doesn't need cable/satellite type FCC approvals. That would be the platform to then cover all of US racing except for IMSA and some of Nascar (final 14 races I think) and I believe most of the international racing on US TVs. |

Looks like this was a pretty good season.
I enjoyed this broadcast team. They were very professional. Given the sensationalist tendencies of the TV station that acquired the rights from next year onward, I'm not sure if I will want to watch the series with the US commentary or would rather seek out a version with a local European commentary instead. We shall see. After all, wasn't it John Lee Hooker who said (abridged) "Nobody boogity like the boogity man!" ? |

Try IndyCar radio. I never really cared for NBC's coverage, so a few years ago I gave IndyCar radio a go and I find them excellent. They have a good team, who are very knowledgeable, more so than NBC and very informative. |

Most road races were very boring, as was Iowa. Street races were great, and the Indy 500 was heartbreaking.
It seems that IMS Productions will produce broadcasts, and Fox will just add pit reporters and ads. |
