Yep - think everybody looks forward to this now. Certainly has turned into a major event with the CSMA backing. I heard it was advertised in the Express this week ? 4th year I think now, 30,000 plus people last year, if the weather stays good this is just a great club racing weekend. We're only out on the Sat but considering staying down for the Sun too. So who else is going ?

I think it's 26 on the short (Indy) circuit but could be 28. I'll try and find out over the weekend for you.

28 Classic Thunder 27 Group One TC I believe Brands can start 30 saloons. As it's a class based system there is no qualifying/pre-racing - It's reserves decided on first come first served. There's always 3 or 4 coming in late so imagine we will have full grids and reserves on Sunday. Got a few odd jobs to do on the Mazda today too, as well as checking it over. Don't want to find anything wrong with the car in the week before the meeting so I'd like to do it now.. Looking forward to it, it's not a circuit which plays to the strengths of the Mazda so I should get a good run with the Escorts, Rovers and Capri's. Will have to wait and see how much power the XJS will have up the pit straight to know if I can stay with him. Stacy |

sounds good but clashes with HSCC/VSCC two day Silverstone festival on International circuit. HSCC Brands Hatch Superprix meeting on the Grand Prix circuit is one of the highlights of the year so understand your enthusiasm!

I'll be there assuming I can get the gearbox sorted. Brands in theory suits the Golf, in practice I can't get round there in a decent time to save my life. Understeer heaven.

The BX understeers at the slightest of corners, slicks help so they'll be back on for Brands! No use at Thruxton, where we needed the bigger diameter Yokos on for top end speed.

Stephen,
I'll be flying back to the UK that weekend then (hopefully) off to Barbados so whilst I'm slightly miffed at not being there you'll understand why its only "slightly". Hope its as good as last year but get that parc ferme sorted out. |

Simon, I guess from a spectator point of view it's because they can see most of the track from the majority of places. That means there are constantly cars in vision and the racing can be watched without interruption. From a drivers point of view I can see the preference to race on the Grand Prix circuit, more demanding in skills and dare I say more overtaking opportunities?

I guess you may have a point - with all the rumours of Brands becoming a housing estate we should be grateful its there at all I suppose! Without sounding biased Silverstone's HSCC/VSCC should offer great racing. All the organisers should plan better to avoid these clashes.

Thks Stephen - I was only wondering and it seems Stacy has the inside info - should be pretty busy out there with 28+cars, I havent done many races with grids over 20, perhaps 3, so should be fun - and as has already been said good for the spectators.
I will be in my Rover SD1 , number 80, white with 'Unipart' livery. What post will u be at ? Last edited by Slowcoach; 30 Apr 2003 at 09:37. |

I'm afraid we rarely know until the day. Watch out for the famous red trainers and a Type-R baseball hat!
