SPA CLASSIC Peter Auto

The first historic meeting of the year at Spa, and it's big. All Peter Auto grids, including the first race for the Global Endurance Legends cars.

I was wondering if anyone could be able to say why for the Spa Classic spectators are not allowed in on Friday.

I find this quite bizarre and dissapointing as I was planning to go all three days.If anyone could shed some light on the matter or a solution if its the case it would be much appreciated.

Isn't Will taking about Spa Classic by Peter Auto, here?
https://peterauto.peter.fr/wp-conten...-timetable.pdf
If yes, it surely is a matter of insurance and people at the gates. This could increase the costs. Just my bet.
If you're looking for a solution, join a team, any team even a catering one or go the day before and hyde yourself…

Yes it is the Peter Auto event.

That was what my dad was saying.Annoyingly I don't really know anyone who goes to the Classic.

It's a shame as Friday is the best day really on my opinion and it was the main event for me this year.

Edit-Having looked at the event website it says the event is open all 3 days but my dad so its not. That tickets are only on the gate on Friday.Have to do some digging.

Tickets? Why that? People there are nature oriented, just rent fancy dresses and pretend you're Chip and Dale the well known squirrels seen in Rescue Rangers. Bear in mind that one has a brown nose the other being black. Last recommendation stay away from raccoons rutting, they are legions at this time of the year! L'appel de la nature…

Will, PA website links to adv ticket purchase, including a 3 day pass, so must be ok to spectate all 3 days.
Don't forget they rip you off eur 7 a day for parking each day !

We will be there with a yellow Alfa GTAm no. 58, in the HTC race, most probably based in the enduro garages, but not sure which one at the moment.

Call by to say hi.

That’s the timetable, Gerard- which I was just about to post a link to! Thanks for saving me the trouble......

Provisional entry lists have been sent out to competitors, but don’t seem to be on the website yet. Grids are good! Circuit max of 75 already entered for 60s Endurance, plus 9 reserves..... As usual at this meeting we get the short(ish) straw, and are on track Friday, Saturday and Sunday eves...... Does tend to interfere with the socialising!

Young Will if you spot an old shiny wreck based on a poor and so simple TR4 lined up in the Sixties grid, this time dont say a word: its a rare and wonderful Morgan SLR… Very well put together, maintained on a very professional standard and very well driven too!

Hope you'll understand that you're living in a country blessed by mechanical gods and that the UK produced the great majority of the wonders you enjoy to watch. If you want to imagine what it takes, sometimes, to refurbish a classic, mind you the dealers are closed and the part lists have gone for a long while straight to the bin.
I'm currently trying to help a bloke racing a Commodore B GS Coupé. Some steering parts are pain in the neck to find not mentioning a single headlamp or rear light complete unit. And its not always just a matter of money…

The question for Kevin was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwnVZAGhArY So, red or yellow?

Apologies, I haven’t received the entry lists in a format that can use to post link. CER1 includes the yellow Monteverde 512M but no 917. In CER2 there are 3 of the amazing Ferrari 512BB LMs on the list, and the 1977 Le Mans Aston Martin DBSV8. If it shows, that car is cool....

Gerard! Only bit of the Morgan SLR taken from a TR is the engine...... And OT, but at Dijon there will be two, as I’m sharing the red one with its owner there.....

Mike, know what you mean about the socialising !

Also, my missus & l normally do a car boot sale close to our home & this year it clashes with this PA event. l'm still considering doing prep work late on Friday eve, then returning home to help her on Saturday, before returning to Spa for our night race on Saturday eve !
Luckily, she doesn't look at this site, so l can leave my options open for the moment but it would win me lots of brownie points to be 'cashed in' later on in the year !

Hope to meet up with you during the event.

Sorry for the link, Mike…
Martin I know your french language is very good so why not "joindre l'utile Ã* l'agréable" at Spa? Just have to put old slicks in your GATM boot, they can make acceptable tables, add some guillotine injection bits and why not an Autodelta rear suspension? And a double ignition distributor head! I think I won't be there but I could add some Capri pistons, one crankshaft and a severely damaged head too! Signed by Ric Wood and… me!
Sorry for the Ric thing, Mike!

Odd to see no 512 at Spa this weekend along with the Speed 8.

33 cars for the Endurance Legends is pretty impressive for a new series (race wise).

All the starting lists are incredible.

The various grids pretty much cover the whole of sportscar racing from the 1950s until ~2010. Just awesome.

Interesting to see that the Endurance Racing Legends grid has lots of cars from the 1990s whereas the Masters Endurance Legends at Monza was all from post 2000.

They certainly are some impressive grids, as exampled by the queue for 60s Endurance scrutineering last night- out of the gate! (Each category has own scrut team.) I was on my tod until mid afternoon, but managed to get our car 2nd in line after the family Stephens 356 and in front of Mr Birch’s GT160, get the truck eventually parked for the e/end, plus some tyres fitted for the Chevron. After the rest of the team arrived (some off ‘car shopping’ and some stuck at Heathrow by wildcat Belgian ATC strike ) I made myself a well deserved cuppa.....

The logistics of getting everyone into the circuit/meeting were not helped by Spa running a track day and then track evening that didn’t finish until 8pm. A lot of trucks, including the GpC Avon tyre guys, couldn’t get in behind F1 boxes to start unloading until late last night..... I don’t understand why PA don’t take over the Thursday for themselves and make it a test day. As it was, a lot of this weekend’s entries, including us, were on track earlier in the week.....

One of the improvements happening at the circuit is the old tarmac ‘Safety Academy’ area below the bottom paddock entrance gate is being tarted up, including the installation of lighting and hook-up. Of course, not finished for us, but a generator supplying leccy to all those needing. Hope toilets on the ‘to do’ list as well......

First car on track 0935 for FP, SLR all ready to go.

Now raining.....

As usual here, the Belgian scrutineers very much regard it as ‘their patch’, take over and sometimes make the whole process slow and over complicated..... This time, we’ve had a new focus on the use of elastic on shoulder straps (to pull them out of the way when changing drivers). Apparently they will not be legal next year, but it’s been decided we can’t have hem this year either, so they’re all being removed or cut at scrutineering.....

Will be interesting to see Minshaw in the XJR9.First race for him and the car if it turns up. I think its the LM version of the 9.

24 cars for the Legends grid is great.

Kevin, thanks for info and pic! What a jewell with a great history I recall it was raced at Magny-Cours, Vdev series. One of my favorite, no doubt, together with the TOJ. Entered moons ago in our national championship we had a Cheetah, pedaled by a really nice person, Daniel Brillat. I seem to recall he used to run a Honda cars shop near Geneva and raced a 2002 Bimmer at Le Mans. I like the GRD's too and we still have a Cesca-Grac racing those days. But your March looks like no other for sure. I know you'll have fun there, take care when enjoying.
