Gunnar racing ran a Porsche (Evo possibly) up until recently in Grand-Am which they called a Gunnar G-99. I haven't heard anything on it racing this year though and now the team have a DP we might not see it out again.
The car ran in GTS |

I would agree with you, Try Hard....
It is a big reason why we'll never see the 2003 edition of the Caddys race again.... But it is worth a thought if those manufactureres were looking to come back in sometime in the future, they could use a GT! as a "bridge" to collect data, etc., adn do it via a working agreement with a qualified privateer.... But that would make too much sense.... |

Duffacus, the G-99 was a tube-frame based racer (IIRC) with a GT1 alike bodyshell. It was orignally a sypder but GA told gunnar to convert it to a closed top so as to be able to race it last year. But now with GA getting rid of GTS, I don't think we'll see it again I remember watching on the gunnar site as the car was being built/converted, they kept an excellent photo log of it.
With regard to manufactuers, they one that would really make sense for is Porsche, and they are the only manufactuer still in endurance racing (albeit with the N-GT spec 911's, and in a support roll). Maybe if they stop faffing over the Cayanneneenenne (it is NOT a porsche, despite the badges, whereas the Carrera GT, hmmm lovely) they can get on and get back to what they do best... and use the GT1-98 as a test bed for a full-on assualt. btw Tim, do you mean 2002 caddys? and that is deffiently a shame, I think those Caddy's were great looking race cars, and they showed real promise, if only Caddy would allow someone to run them privately (say DAMS or ORECA??), they'd be a bonus to any grid. (sorry slightly off-topic there...) Last edited by Try Hard; 3 Feb 2004 at 16:16. |

Erm no ones mentioned the Sintura. Does anyone know what has happend to it will it race again? Another cars worth a mention are the allard group c that was advertised in autosport for ages. Finally with regards to the discussion about the Mclaren F1 earlier on, forget about GTP it could be run in GTS as a supercar. Would the Mclaren dominate?

I started a thread ages ago about the Sintura because I wanted to know the same thing. Only one was made and it was recently sold to a new owner. No news on the racing front though...

The Allard was a great looking car, IMO. Especially in the red (was it MOMO?) livery.

Just read in another thread that apparently Mr. Panoz indicated that the Panoz GT1 would be available if a customer wanted to buy it for a privateer effort....
DAMS was a possible buyer noted in the thread... I think it was in the LMES entry thread... |

Talking about weird GT1 cars, how about the Russian MIG GT1 from 1993/4.
The Lister Storm GTL was also a favourite of mine. May be an indication of what a future Lister 'Supercar' may look like. |

I loved the Quaife R4 in GT1 spec! They later bought it down to 'GT2' spec which obviously was later called GTS.

Will wait for GT4, which should have many Group C/LMP/GTS cars in it. There is an official FIA GT game out soon from the guys who made the GTR mod. |

If anyone wouldn't mind, could you post a list of all the GT1 cars that raced or were built? Or perhaps a link? I cannot find any good car lists besides the ones I already know about.

http://www.classicscars.com/chassis/...orsche911.html I believe the Bytzek brothers of Canada own at least 3 Porsche GT1s currently. They also totalled one several years back. |

Re: GT1 links
The links to the 911 GT1. Isn't that the 1997 version of the GT1 rather than the 1998 one?
With regard the GT-1 road car, I will try and dig out a picture I took in a showroom on the Champs Elysee, which had the car on display, I think in 1998 or 1999. |

Didn't Champion Racing have a Porsche GT1 at one point in time also? Do they still have it, or was it sold?

Here's a link to a summary of the 1998 FIA GT championship.
http://wspr-racing.com/wspr/results/...fiagt1998.html This site also has a summary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans up to the year 2000. You can check the years the GT1 category was involved and see who entered. http://wspr-racing.com/wspr/results/...mans_home.html Both can give you an idea of the GT1 cars that raced in Europe. yes Champion did have a Porsche GT1 at one point, but I don't know what happened to it. Maybe the Bytzek brothers own it now.

Champions car went to Gunnar in 01 but I don't know what happened to it after that. I know Gunnar had it for sale after Daytona 01. Has been painted in 3 different oil companies livery.
