Something wrong here! Thor debuted his RS200 already in the 1986 RX GP…

Interesting thing here is that there is also Antero Laine in the ex Seppo Xtrac aswell who beats Thor off the line!

So, again Schie in an Xtrac, Laine in an Xtrac, Welch in an Xtrac and John Smith in an Xtrac!

There are 4 I tell you!

Still something wrong here! In my GP story of 1987 I wrote that Andy Bentza got his old Audi 80 quattro from Reneé Vontsina to do the GP, after he retired in early 1987… Antero Laine is an old friend, I do not remember that he ever drove at Brands Hatch nor Seppo’s Xtrac. The name looks as it could be a Jarmo Laine, but I do not immediately remember a Jarmo Laine either…

BTW, it cannot be the ex-Niittymäki Xtrac anyway as Seppo sold the car in early 1987 to Norwegian Ragnar Forsberg and in the end of 1987 the XR3 was owned by this http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...89136_6771.jpg Viking warrior.

According to the recordings I have, the event was held at Brands Hatch 1987 it was a British Championship round running along side it would seem some kind of International event on the same day maybe someone else on here can answer. Also the clip I previously posted on here with Rennison competeing against Matti Alamaki in the Delta at Lydden was from the same year 1987 and it was classed as the sealink challenge?

Ahhh, and I was stuck on the 1987 RX GP all the time…
Remember the Sealink Challenge, that was a cooperation between TEAC and the NRV, racing at Lydden as well as Valkenswaard.

In the John Webb days, for a couple of years there were a couple of "internationals" in March, (1986 and 1987? -need to check) A round at Brands and a round at Cadwell Park, as you said run alongside the British Championship. With seperate "international finals".

Pretty sure when Holm debut the RS200, as most others it was in Ford Colours. The car stayed in England for the winter and raced in the Lydden Winter Series in plain white.

Dont - remember Matti ever racing in the Sealink triangular challenge - wasn`t it Belgium v Holland v England - may have been 2wd only - like the lord of lydden title.

Thor definately debuted the RS200 at the 1986 GP in the rain as did Schanche and Nilsson, all had the Ford livery,Gollop also debuted the 6R4 in fact the only one on the entry. Rennison was the first to have an RS200 early 86.

Nope, Schanche’s RS200 had no blue Ford livery any more and had already the 2.1 evo engine in it. Gollop’s 6R4 was still white that weekend. Yep, Rennison did already the Dutch ERC round in August 1986 with his RS200.

I think that Terry O’Shea’s Mk3 went to Gunnar Kittilsen. But who the heck is Parmo Laine? Laine is a Finnish family name and, therefore, I’m certain that his christian name would be Jarmo, not Parmo.

Sorry Barrie - I`m sure Gollop debut the 6R4 at Lydden in a winter series - in plain white with front spoiler. I`ll have to dig in the attic to check the date.

Were the Laines two brothers who brought the xtrac together?

I m rubbish at links, I was just trying to link to one of Tonys youtube videos (Schanches first event in RS200) half Ford livery and headlights, although the usual Viking and Sachs sponsors present, yep can remember it being an evo.

Well, new for me (or completely forgotten?) that somebody else had Seppo’s Xtrac before it went to Norway and Ragnar Forsberg. But at least the date (15.3.87) of the event does not interfere at all. Yep, the sticker reads Tarmo, not Jarmo. However, the name Tarmo Laine does not wake up any memories for me. Must try to find out if he is family to Antero. Seppo Niittymäki (as well as his brother Risto Niittymäki) from Hyrylä and Antero Laine from Kellokoski were living just a couple of kms down the road.

About Martin’s RS200 and its Ford livery: On my pics from the 1986 GP at Brands Hatch it is very difficult to see, du to the mud on the car. But one week later we have been together to Bologna in Italy for the 'Memorial Bettega'. And yep, his car still had the blue and white Ford livery. It also had a reg no that weekend, C200LWC (chassis 012, the first ever Evo). On Rolf Nilsson’s RS200 at Brands the reg no was B200 XVX.

Hehe, sorry Eddi, I just presumed it must be Seppos car coz of Rakenuus Ruola sponsors, and Edacom, both Seppos sponsors

Barrie, I know abvout Wahlunds, it was BDT engined, still quick though!!

Strange how Terje built a car without help from Endean and Gartrac, but never mind, he was never short of cash!

BTW in the STCC game online I can be Tommy Rustad, Tommy K or Thomas Schie!! how cool is that!!

Great thread, and super pics Stpehen, would love to ahve a look at the one day! could spend hours!! Have you got a link to a Bebo account or did you just scan them in for this?

Oh and Will definately debuted the Metro at Lydden, plain white with spoiler, rememebr the pics in Autosport!!

From memory I think it did, but not 100% sure!
