Stargazer7 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
F1 will split up after all (?)

Director of BMW Burkhard Goeschel and , of course, Paul Stoddart stated that diplomacy almost failed and a new racing series is a one-way solution for BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda and Renault, possible to be announced even during 2005.

I really didn't believe that this would actually happen but it is very likely to have 2 championships. Is this the real death of F1 as we know it?

It may well turn out ok but look what happened to Indy Car well CART ten years a go, I think we have to take this seriously.

Well I was only kidding in reference to martyn's post. Go on, work it out.

Yes, it does have to be taken seriously, I agree.

However, I think it would be ludicrous if it was allowed to get to the stage of a series split, quite frankly.

Knowley just to let you know my post was not aimed at you.

I just wouldn't want F1 to be split up, the pinacle of motorsport and the adverage fan thinks F1 is motor racing, well the only series.
If F1 splits up then it doesn't look good for motor racing on a whole.

I don't think it will get far as a split, just some people threatning to try and get their way or leave, but we don't want to ignore it then there F1 is split up.

Well that's nothing new. F1 has always been alarmingly expensive.

Especially with the FIA's recent cost cutting measures that seemingly work in reverse.

It won't split up - it's in no-one's interest for that to happen.

This is all about self-interest.

Everything will work out, because it simply has to.

$70 million spent on another wind tunnel and the FIA wants to cut downforce by 90% and spending by 70%.There seems to be a conflict of interests!

I don't see how cutting downforce would render a wind tunnel useless though.....

And teams will always spend what's there.

It's not optimism, it's realism.

The manufacturers and teams want to get more money from F1.

They won't get that by not being in it at all.

Cutting downforce is usually un affective as the teams manage to claw most of it back during the winter break leading into the first round.

Maybe not.But they'll spend that money to gain a tenth of a second rather than a whole one.

Wasn't it worked out by Patrick Head or someone that a tenth of a second equals £500,000 worth of investment? And that was years ago!

Nobody complained when Sauber built their windtunnel!

I don't think they want to spend $400 million a season just to get more money from BE!

Do they really need that money and do they really need to be in a racing series that "dumbs down" the technology.

I think they want equal money from F1 compared to Ferrari so that they are competing equally.

I don't think that the amount of money is really that important to the likes of Toyota.

People watch F1, and it's not going anywhere.

The manufacturers want to compete against - and beat - Ferrari.

Going off and having their own backwater series doesn't benefit them.

Ferrari isn't F1 and not too many teams found it difficult to beat Ferrari pre-Schumacher/Brawn/Byrne/Todt era.

Ferrari is a key part of F1 and a breakaway series would not have them.

Is there any wonder that Ferrari want Kimi to sign up to a five year contract!

Where will all the best drivers be in 2008.Will they be in Manufacturers cars or sat in Ferrari clones.

When Schumi retires (and he will eventually) who will be the "drivers" in "F1"?

I've no doubt that Ron Dennis will be keeping Kimi imformed as to what is happening with the GPMA.

The GPMA have already said that Ferrari would be welcome to join them on "equal terms" and any other team for that matter. And even have the FIA and BE run the show!

However the FIA would not make the rules, merely enforce them.

I don't really think we can be aragant and ignore these threats incase it does happen, you can't be 100% certain F1 will stay as one series.
