ALMS at VIR.

I understand it's a bit early to get excited about the VIR race in early October, but they have released the support series races and tentative schedule for the weekend.

Looks like in addition to the ALMS, we'll get to see:
  • Spec Race Atom
  • USGTC
  • Lamborghini Super Trofeo
  • ITC

I'd take last year's 'bunch of spec car races' over the decidedly non-spec USGTC any day. But I guess I'm funny like that.

The transformation will be in full effect by then. I wouldn't go for free.

You'll still watch it and comment on it on the internet though.

You may be right about that first part, nonetheless, I won't miss a chance to visit the farewell tour of the circus when it's coming close to town. I'll take your free ticket

Who cares?

Support series could be better, but I rarely pay all that much attention anyway. It will still be a good event at a great facility.

I'm not sure the support races mean a whole lot. It's a weekend that typical IMSA support races do not run, but why? Maybe VIR wanted to showcase some of their "resort" customers?

I plan on going. Went last year. Drove from Athens. This year I'll be an hour away so I'm definitely going. VIR is an awesome track to see in person.

Star Mazda or F2000 or whatever it is ran there last year. Same thing with the Porsche series.

It also says on the VIR page that the race starts at 2:15pm and on the ALMS page it says Live Streaming starts at 2:45pm.

I hope they don't pull the mid Ohio nonsense from last year.

Nah, I think in this case it is just a mix of of the starting time, because the race is being shown on tape delay the next day.

30 minutes difference? I'm sure they'll get it hammered out over the next five months. Like the OP wrote, "it's a bit early to get excited..."

I have learned to never take stock in any of the times posted on ALMS.com.

Intercontinental Trophy Cup

Sounds like the MLB World Series and the International Race of Champions.

Sounds even more pretentious to me, since players, literally, from around the world do play in MLB, and the initial IROC did include international drivers (albiet on many boring ovals).

Very sad! Another death in sports car racing. I'm not saying its on the same level as recent human deaths but still something that has been taken from us.

Glad I got some shots of her at last year's ALMS race.
