exactly, I believe Aragon is the first time the ginetta has seen a dry circuit from what the DSC article says.......and am I allowed to say it sounds like a mickey-mouse circuit with lap times around the 1min 20 sec region, its hardly Spa or LeMans.
Also on test days people do all sorts of silly things to psyche each other out such as running low weight, pumping the engine up, or even sand bagging with extra weight to go slower......the only real times that matter are qualifying.......but even then people may not want to go too fast as they may get BOP'd |

It clearly has characteristics the teams find useful/relevant for testing, including that 1km straight. All the manufacturers have used it for testing, so I guess it ticks a lot of boxes.

From the videos it seems they are using the 5km version with the long left hander instead of the hairpin.

layout should be this, but with the almost 2km long straight from t10 to 16. I did some simulation using my modded gtr2. I took a 2017 low drag dallara, set 840kg + 80kg min. weight, AER P60 specs (650Nm for most of rpm range, 670hp max power and 8000rpm redline) and lmp1 size tires. Toyota-Porsche drivers IAlike. Set a drag value to let the car reach 352km/h at the end of long straight and obtained these results: Aragon best laptime: low 1.17 - 352km/h top speed Silverstone best laptime: mid 1.40 - about 305-310km/h top speed reached at the end of hangar straight Le mans: high 3.15 - 350km/h top speed. |

Apparently each day they made more than 100 laps, without major hiccups, which is good.

Sarrazin is a good signing for SMP. He'll bring sportscar experience that their other announced drivers lack. Plus he's the fastest man ever around Spa in a sportscar. He did a 1:53.658 in qualifying last year in the low drag Toyota. So he's still got speed.

This is rather exciting, I'm really looking forward to more of these announcements. The LMP1 field is gonna be absolutely stacked with talent next season.

Tréluyer wouldn't be a bad choice either, two anchormen instantly.

Good signing for Sarrazin and the team. Hopefully he has some more speed left in him to peddle that beauty.

Can't tell if it sounds any different to the p2 engine.

My guess is I won't be able to make the difference with my eyes closed. I could not do it between the 3.4L (P2) and 4.5L (P1) Zytek engines back in 2009-2010, neither could I between the 7.0L (GT1) and the 5.5L (GT2) Corvette in 2010. It will be the same here.
