David,

Perhaps you have a little insight on this, is there any chance of LAA getting #007 or #008 or are those already spoken for?

What are those 2 chassis doing? Just sitting around?
Probably P&M wouldn't want to risk damaging those 2, being the last works GT1 Vettes.

They'll go to collectors. I have insight on a potential buyer for 007, but I can't say anything further than that.

Yes, 004 was the car that crashed at Le Mans. I think the articles are just looking at the team as a whole in saying they'd just had the car repaired, but were either mis-informed on which car crashed at Le Mans, just made a mistake. But yes, the 004 crashed at Le Mans and was rebuilt, the 003 burned down. Now the 004 will have to carry the torch for the team in 3 different series over the next month and a half or so.

That means that #003, the car that was lost, was the car that finished 2nd in the 24hr LM in GT1.

Correct. Sorry I didn't check the accuracy of the information that I quoted. This is 004 at 10:49 pm 13 June 2009:

It did not, obviously, finish second....

With P & M doing such a wonderful job to create a competitive GT2 car I asked someone with excellent team connections if he expected team owners to beat a path to the P & M door as it were, now that the cars are available. He felt that they were too expensive for people to consider as a regular GT2 competitor and did not think any would be out in the European Championship next year unless the factory helped.

I am interested in any thoughts from our American friends

I do not know what the cost of the P&M GT-2 will be. But it is apparent that the European, Corvette Motorsports, would seem to disagree with your well placed source. Here They are pretty well plugged into just what is happening in the Corvette scene on the Continent!! Just how many are to be sold is yet to be seen though.

Yeah, i thought P&M had announced at least one team had signed out with them and more were asking about starting a GT2 Vette program. Wouldn't be surprised to see LAA run a GT1 somewhere, (still have one left, right?) and a new GT2 chassis in 2010 or at the latest 2011.

It may be that they are helping a team in some way but my info is that at almost $1m percar including the spares package they are double the cost of Ferrari and Porsche. Teams that currently run either of these will have stocks of bits and it therefore becomes a big investment to set up for a new car in an existing team.

Of course if P & M get one team up and running with a special deal and proceed to dominate then the others will have to think about what they can do but I think it is unfortunate that the cars are so much more than the opposition

I'm not buying that! One of the reasons it is going to the GM built engines instead of the Katech built engine is stated as cost. Costly, maybe, double, exaggerated I would think!

Well the first team to openly declare they are looking at a GT-2 program seems to be DKR. Here

Sorry, not sure what you are not buying HORNDAWG, are you saying that the cars are not as expensive as I have been told? My info was that a car is $700,000 and the spares package $200,000. I am interested if you know better

Oliver Gavin is at Paul Ricard this weekend promoting the new C6.R GT2, any news about possible European customers for LMS or the new FIA European GT2 series ?

I'm getting more and more impressed with DKR's ability to set up the GT1 Vette as they have had fastest Q-lap at a few FIA-GT races now. If they can translate that ability to the new GT2, they will be a formidable force next year indeed.
