Cape Town - Within two years... Maybe!

Once again rumours of a race in Cape Town in South Africa, there are currently 3 "bids" with the newest one being a street circuit in the suburbs near (and through) the SOCCER stadium...

Read more here... http://www.iol.co.za/motoring/f1-gra...ound-1.1016256

But as Ive said in previous threads about F1 in SA, every 2 years these rumours crop up but nothing much ever omes of them...

Flyin Ryan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
South African over on a rugby board put up an updated track layout.

I think that other picture shows the earlier plan for a circuit which predated the rebuilding of the stadium. They just laid the old circuit on top of the current photo.
The coastal curved straightaway reminds me of Shoreline Drive a lot.

Yeah, talk about spectator opportunities, that would be something else. Have to make it a good corner though - the thing that runs through it now looks a bit sharp.

Tight yes, but it would offer a couple chances for someone to attempt a repass on someone who passed them coming into the stadium.

At least F1 cars should be fast enough to avoid carjacking, although pit stops could be a problem.

I like this idea, I like it alot. F1 definatly should have a presence in Africa, with the only real option being South Africa.

exactly. I'm not sure of crime figures, but at the end of the day if they've been holding a GP in the centre of SP for 20 years not to mention all those Mexican Grands Prix in the centre of Mexico City, I'm sure they could manage.

The only place worse than São Paulo is Rio, the host of olympics in 2016 and World Cup in Brazil in 2014, and they're proud of it !

The main thing I would say about South Africa is to leave your girlfriend/wife at home in your native country. South Africa has a BAD record of abuse of women, even today.
