I had this in 1987. It was built for the 1966 world cup and used by ATV as a commentary unit. It then passed to STV who used it for games at Hampden park. We got it from them. It was in excellent condition and maintained to a high standard with very few miles on it. We were going to use it for transporting our FF2000 round europe. Sadly I was badly injured in a accident at work and we never got the chance to use it. It was sold for a song as it was never properly finished by us. |

Hopefully zero depreciation (or appreciation even!) and classic insurance would help balance the fuel consumption out! |

Aye that's very bonny had one that looked sort-of like that when I put a Capri V6 in my rally barge....but it was "tad" tattier than that one......
Should get better than 10 mpg.....when I fitted my engine, still using the standard V4 gearbox, the MPG dropped from 15 mpg to about 12 mpg, when towing a four-wheel trailer, rally car and spares... - but towing speeds went up by a greater percentage than the fuel consumption increased, as did the grin factor when blitzing other rally rigs |

If so, kudos on saving it. Somewhere I have some pics of it from the 2005 Classic. Thought I has posted them on here somewhere but presumably not this thread. |

I think this is a really interesting thread. There's probably more 'history' involved in the transporters than some of the cars they would have carried...

Well, VIVA, that comment killed the thread! Not sure how you managed that ...... Something I stumbled across today ... http://www.autoevolution.com/news/me...e2.html#agal_0 Back when vehicles were proper and right hand drive. (It's not the Renntransporter that attracted my attention but the much older device on page 2. Which is where that link should take you.) |
