Ami Robert, how did you guess about the said army?
Maybe you didn't notice the link Mike posted about Panhard EBR, the strange machines we built in the 50's. They are said to have two oil gauges, one in the engine as should and another in the driving compartments to have an idea of how much oil escaped from the engine! Second hand underpants, what good idea for Xmas! You mean I'd find an advert like this: For sale, genuine army underpants, like new, barely used, some signs of combat, no blood spot! |

Who are the Parisian trouble makers? WTH! This morning a white Citroën DS -21 or 23 - is still parked in the middle of the mess, untouched. Doest it mean our hooligans love classics? Just hope they won't think about the fact we have two zoos in the area, one being in the train station area…*Put a tiger in your engine? My pleasure, bro!

Maybe I’m weird but when pictures are published or footage shown of cars being torched I always try to see what make they are..... As if it matters!
Good if they purposely left the Citroen untouched, though. |

You can see the DS, a real one, from bfmtv.com for instance, looking for DS épargnée place Saint Augustin. Only a touch of red paint to clean, and its for sale! You dont need to look for the make of others, they burnt every car they found on the way. What kind of message do we send to potential tourists few days before Christmas?
I wonder when the army will be involved… During May 68 events, the situation was inverted, the police chasing the students. Today, trouble makers are chasing the police. |

So what chance is there of Macron reconsidering the next fuel tax increase?
There was an interesting comment last week from a motoring journalist regarding the recently sacked ‘Alliance’ boss. The (well respected) journo in question has been around for many years (Not quite as old as me though....) and has interviewed virtually all past and current motor manufacturer head honchos. His opinion was that almost without exception, they were interesting to talk to, communicated well and had excellent PR skills. Except one...... |

Mister "in the meanwhile" seems unable to realize that. Hope he will be asked soon what he does with the collected funds. We can't afford to be a "terre d'accueil" anymore and we dont care to become the best environment pupils of Europe. Renault president had a massive income increase some years ago, granted against the share holders' will, thanks to his management board. For the first time since a long while, we can hear the word "referendum" said on the hush-hush mode at the moment. Its only my opinion, but I wish we now choose our politicians as should be, with lot of tests, including psychological ones… Running a country takes the same skills as a huge company. |

May be when he's back here, if ever, John can help me to find a convenient English translation to our expression: "péter plus haut que ce qu'on a le derrière"!
Any idea, Mike? Bob probably… |

I can give you a literal translation, but that’s probably not exactly what the expression is meant to be.......

Well it's a sad thing but most of the EU is suffering due to low employment and high taxation. Sadly many in the UK can't or won't accept that position and blindly insist that all is well over the water. Well ask Greece, Italy, Portugal and to a lesser extent, Spain. Their woes have become a contagion across the EU. Now France and Germany are unwillingly having to pay.
If only it had remained a customs union.... |

Mr "in the meanwhile" is sitting on a pressure cooker and we spared enough gaz to cook his b....cks. Unfortunately, the guy is clever and has a good staff. The first thing he did, just after election, was to "choose" his potential opponents. So what do we have now? A male clown on the left, another clown on the right but female. In the middle? Two other clowns! Bozo president… again?? |

I think that you are indicating that your countries leader, in colloquial English is 'talking from his behind' And that is a polite version.
Gerard. Why not consider moving to England, I am sure we would make you most welcome. After all we gave you John, so fair exchange is no robbery* Bob. * I use this expression so as not to upset our expatriate friend. |

I guess you can see bad images coming from Paris and can't say its not true. It might even be worse than you can imagine. We thought having found a leader, expecting no miracle but good moves forward. He is not a leader. Exacerbating factor is that he forgot the first reason why people voted for him. We all are fed up with politics. We all know that solving our problems wont be that simple and specialists are requested. Not politicians. Then he came from nowhere. Just saying, no more right, no more left, just join and let's go back to work to build a better society. He is "just" one of the best politicians ever. The kind we dont need, the kind we dont want. |

And this is related to car racing in France because the equivalent of your Motorsport UK, fédération here, reports directly to the Ministry of sports…
They all try to fight against tax evasion but what is done to the new pensioners causes a new kind of fiscal exodus. To preserve a decent level of life, many chose Spain, Portugal or Morocco and even Senegal, bringing to foreign countries money earned in France. At the moment, many are watching live TV news. Like my grandma when she was listening to Radio London in secret, a long while ago. I know you can get this not enjoyable picture, mon Ami Robert. |

Here’s a test question for bauble (or others)- In days gone by when a racing cyclist was really ‘going for it’, they would have been described as cycling ‘On the Rivet’. Why? |

Nowadays it is all plastic and I doubt if there is a rivet in sight. Next question ….. |

Correct Sir!
But even leather saddles don’t have rivets nowadays...... They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Literally! |

You see, that's the benefit of the UK political scene. You don't have to be clever to get the top job and there is no need to choose one's political combatants since all seem to be either clowns or no-hopers. Or, indeed, both. At the same time. |

Other question, then.
Are the "tires" made of the same material as the bagpipes? Did you ever experience the electric assistance? |

Grant, I do appreciate your point of view. Mike and some others know that our trafic restrictions have some exceptions. One is for Circus trucks. Just in case you're running out of Bozos, we've a lot here! May be some red paint is needed and you'll have to replace yellow jackets with red noses…

Brooks B17
Mike, back in the day a Brooks B17 was the saddle to have, black leather, and copper rivets, most comfortable once one had worn one's backside in.
I was amazed to find on google that they still exist; |
