Next March?

Went shopping for a new car today, first stop Subaru dealer, asked about STI, salesman replies "sure you can order one now" my eyes brighten "It'll b in sometime next march"

Damn it!!

For everyone else stateside who has enquired or purchased, is this wat I can expect everywhere or should I keep looking?

evo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
My friend recently bought a Mazda 6 right off the lot because the dealer told him if he ordered one the way he wanted it, he would have to wait til next summer. So he bought it and out of curiosity I asked a different Mazda dealership how long it would take to get one in with similar equipment. He said 3 months.

The point of my story is that car salesmen don't know thier asses from holes in the ground.

Oh, and according to everything I've read, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is a better car for less money. And you get a stereo...

Its a big mess, avs. Limited supplies and huge dealer mark ups are the norm at Subaru dealerships right now. Keep looking and check Subaru boards for more information, NASIOC.com has a dealer listing.
If you do get a STi dont remove the stickers, wear the pink logos with pride.

evo man thats harsh, I wouldn't normally trust a dealer on something like this, but I have heard the horror stories already. We've narrowed it down to a 350Z which we have testdriven enjoyed, and can get in 6 weeks from the factory with our specifications. I have heard similrar things about the Evo being "better" and understand why that is said but we also are trying to consider practicality as this will be a daily driver and the evo is supposedly tougher on the buttocks. We are also looking at dealer networks and proximity (45 minutes vs only 10 for the scooby doo) and the fact that the STI is a little less comspicuous to the sticky finger family. But as I said we have yet to test drive either so we still have to see how we fit in the cars, its wierd you find one car that is comfortable and one that is just wierd to you and its different for every person, sometimes even within the same manufacturer
