F1 - Going to Monaco for the first time - any tips

Flying down to Nice on Friday, staying there and commuting over by train - probably on Friday (for fun) then on Saturday and Sunday.

Only have tickets for Sunday - the cost!

Any tips for a great weekend?

Is there a good kebab van anywhere?

There is a McDonalds near the Monaco zoo and a supermarket on the straight/finish straight. I went there when there was no GP on and prices weren't bad but I guess during next weekend prices will rocket up.

Get any grub + drinks from shops a few streets back from the circuit, a lot cheaper than the circuit vendors. Be prepared for a crush on the Sunday after the race to get the train back to Nice.

I agree with G Tanner, it can be worth having a meal at a cafe for a pleasant change. Try having a walk around the bottom of Rascasse up to the car parks, you used to be able to see some cars and people but this was a few years ago and possibly all hidden now. Try Casino if you can, very impressive.

Well - off tomorrow - with a fist full of Euros!

I'll let you know what the loos are like in the Casino - I'm on for a poo there before race time - just to say I've done it!

If you get there early enough tomorrow have a walk round the circuit - its really good fun and you do get to appreciate the gradients on Le Montee (sp?) and Loewes (changed it's name but can't remember what to) hairpin.

Also, walking through the tunnel is interesting as it curves and you can't see the exit until you are almost there!

I too would recommend that you buy your food from shops a couple of streets back from the harbour - the stuff that they have immediately round the circuit is mega expensive. I was there back in 89/90 and it was £5 for a bottle of water and a basic cheese baguette then!

I also seem to recall that the local ice cream was nice but again, overpriced.

Dunno - couldn't afford that! Beer in La Rascasse was reasonable though.

Don't try to park your Dino in the Ferrari Only parking lot. But for a good time, do go by and give that long-haired on the gate my regards.

Flippin great weekend.

Had a great spot in Stand K right where Sato blew!

Only downside was we got really sunburnt - but it was a small price to pay!
