Right, but that's not how BoP works. The Ford also has a completely different engine, and less drag. So that needs BoP'd in.

Porsche are the only team which showed their speed during practice and qualifying. Everyone else was sand bagging. So are they complaining they drove around slowly and didn't get too much of a help?

Other thing to consider is that after 21 hours of racing, the Ford is within a couple of seconds of the Porsche. The Porsche lead is down to strategy during safety cars, and there would be other Fords and BMWs in the battle but they had problems. So I'm not sure how much closer the BoP could be for Ford, BMW and Porsche.

Maybe they don't need to put as much fuel in the tank to do the maximum stint length, compared to the Ford.

The GTE Pro fuel times are timed. There is a minumum time that everyone must be over, to stop teams modifying the fuel tanks for an advantage. If the Porsche pit stop is faster, they are either putting less fuel in, or it's another part of the stop that's quicker.

The pistops themselves are almost the same length, its just that just after the pitstop the porsche pulls away. Seemingly it turns the new tires on faster but over time they wear faster and the fords pull back.

I think main issue is Fords are trying harder than the Porsches too keep their place, but Porsches look relatively comfortable. Thats why I still think the BOP is not right. Maybe it is something to do about the higher downforce rear wing for 911s.

By the way, Corvette is 1 second faster than their qualifying time after 22 hours race. This can be considered as hiding speed.

The 911 looked like it was trying pretty hard to keep that Ford behind?

Not sure what you're meaning with Corvette. As I said Porsche are the only team that didn't hide their speed.

Corvette did get a 5kg. weight break, but that's definitely not a 1 second difference though.

i think this is a case of the setup on the car and the conditions on the track becoming optimal.

They wouldn't trundle around in 6th place, a lap down, for 21 hours as part of a strategy to hide their pace.

Magnussen saying the car felt perfect and therefor the fast times. Jan could not get the car to work on the tires in the night, Garcia was much better there.
So a case of the car switching on, no dropped sand bags.

Yes, in a short time period they seem close but now 91 Porsche has 20 second advantage over 68 Ford, I think Porsche have the upper hand in general.

I didnt want to mean that Ford or Porsche are sandbagging to get better BOP but I really believe Corvette Team hide their real speed during qualifiying, which I think is a clear exaple
