Considering that Toyota will be back in F1 next year again, I find the chances of an LMP1 more and more unlikely.

Toyota MIGHT be in F1 next year. All current F1 teams lodged "conditional" entries saying that unless the FIA got rid of the budget cap, they would withdraw their entries. The possibility is still up in the air.

Lets hope so. The signs are there with the Rebellion tie up. A lot of people shouted toe in the water when it was announced.
Maybe after next year Toyota could give the team a hybrid system to test on their behalf. Then if the main team did come up to LMP1 they could give Rebellion a customer car? It would be the best news in a long time and you would hope it would make a few more Japanese manufacturers wake up, especially given the ILMC calendar. |

I heard on the radio in the netherlands that the Lexus LFA (effectively a Toyota) will be competing in the 24hrs of Le Mans (and the Nurenburgring as well)

Yep the one thing you can guarantee is that Toyota will take their sweet time before deciding to do anything. Definitely not in the Japanese nature to make snap decisions. I would hope (if it happens) it gets the green light next year, announcement around Le Mans time and then they can get to work on a limited schedule for 2012. But I'd say 2013 is just as likely. Sigh.
