Historic Motorsport Show

Are any 'ten-tenthers' attending the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry this coming Friday-Saturday-Sunday (20th-22nd)?

By all accounts all stand space is sold and most of the historic racing fraternity will attend. I was at Gary Pearson's race shop yesterday where his Group C Jaguar was receiving a final polish ready for the show.

As I have posted in the art forum, I will be there Saturday only on Steve Bradley's "Art,Antiques & Autos" stand ( no.500) where some of my original work will be displayed, including the large oil on canvas "Ronnie Remembered" of Peterson in classic JPS Lotus 72 'Woodcote' pose.

Look forward to meeting old friends and members that would like to pop by for a chat.

Yep, I'll be there late Saturday and all Sunday. (Why oh why did the Pomeroy Trophy have to clash with it!)

I guess these clashes will occur more often Tim, with the boom in historic racing. Hence a gathering such as this dedicated to the nostalgic side of our sport.

The HRCR/BHRC are doing some demonstration rally stages - should keep any 12-year old with petrol in his/her veins sufficiently occupied !!!

As this is the first Racing Industry show especially devoted to historic racing, the hopes are high for a great turnout.

Be sure to stop by the Chevron Racing Ltd. stand 168 (I think)- with a bit of luck, they'll have their new website up and running and available for display.

The International Historic Motorsport Show is not just a static exhibition. Some of the 'activity' highlights:

An Auction of important cars, motorcycles and motorsport memorabilia by H&H Classic Auctions.

On Saturday 21 February; A Live Rally Stage with drivers like Stig Blomqvist, Pentti Airikkala, Tony Fall, Russell Brookes and Rosemary Smith in action.

Saturday and Sunday 21/22 February; Motorsport Business Briefings on such topical matters as the new FIA Historic Passports, government support for the motorsport industry and race circuit economics.

The inaugural Historic Motorsport Awards Charity Dinner on Saturday 21 February, hosted by Amanda Stretton, with Stuart Turner as guest speaker.

I will be there Friday to meet a man about Cooper drum brakes before scurrying back to Silverstone for a meeting at the BRDC. Here's to a great show that demonstrates the importance of historic motorsport in the scheme of things. Let's hope that it is recognised that most competitors are amateurs and as a consequence we cannot afford to be priced out of the market in terms of testing and enty fees. Very few historic motorsport cometitors enjoy or are allowed sponsorship.
