Can Safely say nobody predicted Bellerby taking victory in the Superfinal! How competitive was Don Shannon?

What a great day it was. I too felt sorry for Van Mechelen - two starts and two broken gearboxes (or something inside it). After the 2nd one he had packed up and gone home and I don't blame him! I'd be shattered. Fortunately the other Belgian Maris put on a great show
Andrew Jordan was just perfect all day, didn't put a single wheel wrong (that I saw) all day! Obviously had a good car beneath him too. I was surprised by GT's lack of pace down the straight but he must still be refining the car and holding back a little? I left after the Supercar A final as I was really tired. What happened to JMC? He was looking 2nd fastest all day. Samantha Thom drove well too, only had one ragged heat - I think that was the third one - but pulled it together in the finals! Pretty glad I took my own food and drink too - every stall had 20-30+ queues all day, even at 5pm! |

Biggest crowd I remember seeing at Lydden for many a year.
Excellent racing all day, drivers behaved and didn't give us too much to do (apart from 1 or 2 incidents). Drive of the day - Miss Thom - she knows how to fight for track position. Very impressive. Car of the day - the Volvo 240 - for sheer arse out ballsy driving against much more sophisticated machinery. Yes it looked like a barge but by Christ did it shift, and put some bigger budget cars in the shade. Front engine + rear wheel drive = entertainment. Thanks to Queen, UDB, Gnomex, Boy Blunder, Kev the Viking et al for another cracking day - even if my feet are oh so sore now........ |

Re-run included Doran ( not in original)
Julian Godfrey also appeared in the re-run. Not really sure whats going on with this, but Andrew Jordan went frm being on pole to not even appearing in the top ten! Olle O seemed very peed off in the A final, he was pleading with the marshalls to stop the race as his car was sat on the apex at Chessons. This after another race was red flagged even though G.T had got going after his spin |

GT broke the tyre barrier which I think is why they red flagged that run (ie to repair the barrier).
Was bad luck for Ollie. I didn't see his spin in the final. But I saw the car in the pits and it looks absolutely immaculate now! |

Fantastic meeting! Drama right through the finals and a totally unpredictable outcome!
LOVED the Volvo was a real crowd pleaser hope he comes back and brings some friends........ One point though A Final and Superfinal starts did Andrew Jordan have all 4 wheels on the grass going in to Chessons in a effort to get in front of JMC? If so I thought the rules were you conceded the place? |

The fastest 16 cars of the day are invited down to the holding area(dummy grid) the quickest 10 cars start the race proper, if there is a red flag during the race any car that cant make the restart are substituted from the rest of the 16 |

Having just go back after bank holiday A2, M25, M40, M5 ....... Drive of the day for me was Samantha Thom. Now when Will Gollop is looking for his next protege for early supercar stardom, surely she is the one. So competitive.

Superb day great action throughout the day and the outcome certainly wasn't predictable! Doran was lacking 4th gear after the heats and by the end of the superfinal he was lacking a few more (hence the lack of pace). The damage to jordans car is quite heavy - the welds on the rear of the cage appear to have cracked (that's just from looking through the windows). Lots of damaged supercars one way or another - hope everyone gets them sorted for the next round.
Andy grant looked to be going well today too until he fell off in the final - anyone know what caused that? Also a quick mention for Jamie Bird - fantastic starts (got the jump on Bellerby more than once off the line). |

What a great win for Dave he looked very racey all day as he all ways does
With his times only about 9-10 seconds off the overall time of the Supercars he looked like he was going to make the super final easy! But to win it on the last lap and pull away A1 Giant killing just like i can remember when i was a kid watching Trevor Hopkins beeting Dimi! With the new tyres it looks some Supermods which where not so competitve last year are more on the pace like Bill Harbour he was going very well but some where a little of the pace ! but i'm sure they will get set up ok soon. The supercars had some gearbox troubles this could be that they seem to spin up more coming out of the corners than normal but hopefully cars will get setups to cope so more will last longer before the next round. Our news !
Xsara sustained massive damage which cannot continue throughtout the year in a non contact sport! We broke intercooler in super final when collided with JMC and then lap 4 a spark plug gave way and we dropped to 3 cylinders pity as we were going the best ever. Thanks to all spectators and supporters who said hello. We enjoyed the meeting and the team is now hopeful that we can really make an impression this year. We are looking forward to Pembrey |

Hope you get it sorted Mark
I remember when I used to service for Ken Hall and some lunatic made contact with him in his RX Turbo and damaged the front end of the Escort Cosworth. I know cars can be repaired but its not nice to see the car damaged |

Did anybody else think the Supercars looked slightly slower off the start line? Perhaps Mark can comment on the new tyres?
