Patty is bart simpsons aunt!
It's St. PADDY'S day ( I think the Sebring race coincides with Paddy's day because Don Panoz in half Irish, he lived here for quite some time until he sold Elan pharmacuticals and got into motorsport) |

Patty vs Paddy....whatever; y'all cut me some slack; I'm of English descent. And I am unsure how much the Don has to do with the week of the event. It has just about always been the 3rd week of March, more likely to coincide with Spring Break. Hmmm, Spring Break, St PATRICK'S Day and sportscars; there is a perfect "storm" every March in central FLA.
I am in that same boat...entries are looking great...must go south in 2 months time. |

There were about 60 entries at Sebring in 1999, so that shouldn't be a problem.
WMUCarGuy's list looks absolutely mouthwatering, especially with GT2 and LMP1 - even if P1 turns out to be just a big sandbagging show. Delightful if all the four Corvettes will be there, although if I have my concerns of the Atlas-run Riley car. |

I'm more worried about the Atlas team itself I assume it's GTE Am they're entering with that old car.

Another cry wolf if you ask me .
First a Saleen that almost never ran , then a magic Panoz that vanished , followed by a ILMC deal to run with Creation , now to run an Oreca at selected events . Their having a laugh !!! |

Remember the LMS entry for an old Prodrive 550 that Walchofer submitted one year which was sponsored by some German strip club or escort service? There is quite a history of programs that don't come to fruition connected to the involved parties...

Seeing the Evoras listed, even just for a minute, was a major selling point. Even without them, the rest of the entries are enough to make me think about taking that week off and driving down. Course now I'm trying to get a job that will make the drive twice as long

Since they went to the ~6 km layout in 1991 the fields ranged from 46 starters in 1991 to 64 in 1995 and then down to 48 in 1998 during the IMSA days. For ALMS the starters were 58 in 1999 and then 42, 38, a high of 59 (2002), 55, 44, 38, 35, 34, 32, a low of 26 in 2009 and back up to 33 for 2010. I would guess ~55 would be acceptable.

The first 12 Hours of Sebring was held on March 15, 1952 (the Saturday nearest St. Patrick's Day) when Don Panoz was 17 years old. He didn't quite invent the event.

Can't believe it were only 33 starters last year - although it was a 'walk-in-the-park' for the Pugs... So much better this year! |

Admire what they are doing Jog . Can you please explain exactly what they have accomplished so far , against what they said they would do ?

They sound like real enthusiasts who are trying to stand out from the crowd and have fun. Not everyone has the resources to buy a 2011 spec car and not everyone wants to follow the crowd and run a Porsche or Ferrari.

After my years of research, I'm planning to launch a team that will stand out from the crowd and let me have some fun. I've been searching for a famous car, "The Cannibal," and when I find it, I'll get it ACO homologated, and run it as an LMP2, since it already has a stock-block chevy engine. I'm going to ask Derek Bell to be my lead driver, and know a Philadelphia heart surgeon who might be interested, plus a computer consultant from Duluth, Minnesota. I think it would be really nice for the environment, so I'm working on electric power generated by the driver's feet and shifting motion, using the same principals as "wave generation." To do that, we're going to keep the "H" pattern shifter and standard clutch, because this paddle stuff is clearly bad for the environment, since it doesn't allow driver motion that can be captured and converted from kinetic to electrical energy, then back to kinetic. Once I get my Cannibal team launched, I'm going to get a Shaw Engineering chassis (SCT 100) to run in ILMC P1. I'm already negotiating with Corey, who will support the whole program and provide his bespoke 3.4 V8 from his Illinios headquarters. I'm 95% there. All I need is the budget. But whatever happens, I know Jag will respect and appreciate my effort. |

It's a Riley Corvette in the ILMC so I don't see a downside.
So many teams in Europe come through the ranks, some making a big splash, others disappearing without trace, it's not worth over analysing each entry. |

The driver talent in the ALMS GTPRo category is lethal this year.
