Bring 'em to Britain. They'd be brilliant round Donington Park, although I suspect they'd choose Silverstone...

Add some Brands Hatch, get us a Europe round at either Spa or Imola, and let's get Adelaide International back on the calendar - and blend with what we have (maybe remove the GC) and we have a nice calendar.

10 Round Sprint Series for the "Australian Touring Car Championship", run from March - July

01. Adelaide (1x500km split into two 250km segments.... ie.. run the race as it was originally envisaged, not how it changed to halfway through the 1999 event, when the front runners whinged because they crashed in Leg 1....)
02. Symmons Plains (1x250km)
03. Sandown (1x250km)
04. Wakefield Park (1x250km)
05. Queensland Raceway (1x250km)
06. Hidden Valley (1x250km)
07. Barbagallo (1x250km)
08. Mallala (1x250km)
09. Winton (1x250km)
10. Eastern Creek (1x250km)

All single races on the Sunday afternoon (except Adelaide Rd1), therefore being easily slotted into a Sunday arvo television slot.

---------------------------------------------

4 Round "Australian Endurance Championship", run from August - October

11. Queensland Raceway (1x500km, two/three drivers)
12. Sandown (1x500km, two/three drivers)
13. Bathurst (1x1000km, two/three drivers)
14. Phillip Island (1x500km, two/three drivers)

Four well established enduro's in local touring car racing history

----------------------------------------------------------

3 round International Series, held in November - early December;

15. Kyalami (3x100km races) .... in the region and South Africa has an established motorsport heritage
16. Taupo (3x100km races)
17. Pukekohe (2x250km races)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Non-Championship;

18. Australian Grand Prix support race, 1x250km race on the Saturday afternoon before GP qualifying/Sunday before GP race, for big $$$ and the "Dick Johnson Cup", in recognition of DJ winning the first F1 support race at Adelaide in 1985.

*my track choices are based upon those which currently hold a CAMS licence, hence i didn't include the likes of Calder or AIR.

I don't mind one five five's post. He obviously shares my view that the calender was better 20 years ago. The big changes I'd make to his calendar though are...

1) Scrapping those international races.
2) I would give NZ an endurance race. Don't worry about an "Australian" endurance championship. I even wouldn't worry about calling it a "championship", but have a recognised series.
3) I'd swap PI and Adelaide. PI as an anduro doesn't sit with me. Adelaide having a real 500, on a weekend close to what was their normal GP date and away from the current one, would fit nicely I think.
4) There may be some other differences with track allocations, but not worth noting all of them down.

Ahh but you see, that would **** all over the currrent AGPC, who barely recognise the Adelaide GP, and talk about it as if it only started in Melbourne. The Glenn Seton or Peter Brock trophy, but I wouldn't even name in that, gp support is fine.

Going to Bathurst, Amaroo, Sandown, Symmons, OP, PI, Hidden Valley, Lakeside, and Adelaide twice each would do me.
Just dreaming

The answer here is easy... a calendar with a different grid and race car each month... Miss January thru Miss December...

But more seriously..

- 22 event championship
* Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
* Adelaide, Clipsal 500
* Albert Park, Australian Grand Prix
* Bahrain Grand Prix
* Barbagallo, Chill 360
* Bathurst, SuperCheap 1000 (2 driver)
* Chinese Grand Prix
* Gold Coast Indy (2 driver)
* Hidden Valley, SkyCity Triple Crown
* Ipswich, Coates Hire 360
* Japanese Grand Prix
* Korean Grand Prix
* Malaysian Grand Prix
* Pukekohe, ITM 400
* Phillip Island 360
* Sandown 500 (2 driver)
* Singapore Grand Prix
* Sydney, Homebush 500
* Tasmania, Symmons Plains 360
* Texas, USGP Austin 400
* Townsville, Sucrogen 400
* Winton 360

- 2 weeks between each race meeting
- Similar race configuration per event, makes it simple for the media and the fans to keep track of.

Don't think V8's would be too happy playing second fiddle to F1 that many times.

I'd like to see Canberra make a return.

In the warmer months, naturally.

I agree, where to put it, and how to align the SummerNats festival to it may be the determinant of its success..

February to May or October to December gives you a pretty big window.

Permanent circuit, or a street track to run by Parliament House?

Geez, the local motorists political party and various motorsports enthusiasts have been asking for a drag strip for ages, but the local flower show is typical of what gets precedence.

Didn't they have a DTm race there, 20 or so years ago, that was only 4 laps?

No disrespect to Symmons who need the injection from a V8 round to service
a permanent circuit, but my dream Island event would be a street race around what is left of Longford.

I'd like to see a combined V8 Supercar and Dunlop series 24 hour race at Bathurst. Turn it back into a real endurance race where mechnical sympathy is required rather than the outright sprint it is today.
