I believe that Wayne Russell in has one of the VPs that was converted to VS, body shell anyway, had its last run at Bathurst in 98, Cruickshank/Lloyd/Beikoff

The Bob Jane Monza was sold to Alan Browne in 1984 (which was driven by Grice to easily win the 1984 Australian GT/Sports Sedan Championship). In 1985 it was sold to Bryan Thompson, who ran it sporadically (he also was driving the Mercedes-Chev). In 1989 the car was rebodied as a Toyota Supra, sold to Des Wall in 1990, who still owns it today.

Wasn't the general concenus that it is still around, appearing at amongst others the Torana Nationals in 2004

There was an article on this in Mark Fogarty's column in Auto Action, saying that Peter Champion had brought Brock's first Bathurst car, the #44D Monaro.

Sounds all good, except that Brock & Des West drove #43D to third place, #44D was the winning car of Bond & Tony Roberts.

Peter's Spa 77 class winner

The 77 Spa car as reported elsewhere in this thread was completed in the early weeks of this year after a 53 week rebuild coordinated by Gerry Johnstone who built it originally at DTV for Gerry and Peter.

Thanks to MN I was introduced to Peter after they reported on the car when we ran it in its debut meeting. We planned a first reunion whilst Peter was here for Revival (at Donington in conjunction with testing the Corvette) ahead of a hoped for entry for Peter and the car at FoS next year as part of their 50 years of touring cars theme. I then broke my leg and regrettably the reunion was rescheduled for next year.

I hope the car may yet appear at FoS next year to celebrate two larger than life personalities now no longer with us who mean so much to people on opposite sides of the world.

More immediately the car is testing at Snetterton tomorrow so if anyone else from ten/tenths is also there do come and say hello!

1984 VK Commodore - Winner. Now with Peter Champion. Or Bathurst Museum, depending on who's to be believed. Be nice to get to the bottom of it, but none of the parties involved in the car's original build and race history seem to want to weigh in.
Well, I was recently doing some background research for my car, as mark oastler from AMC mag wants details of our VK. During a conversation about the 86 car, it came up that the 84?? car had been wrongly 'identified' by Brockie as his 05 car when in fact it is purportedly the 25 car, and that Brock was mistaken. This person (HDT) knows where the 05 car is.
Quote:

Yep, in our garage in WA. It will be making an appearance at the GM owners day on request. It looks nothing special in a VL quasi Mobil/privateer livery but will be there nonetheless. I am currently doing up a board with pics and details of it's history for the day. We have been motivated to get the car done (back to VK) after seeing some other efforts (credit to camaroz).
Quote:
no i don't believe that it was one of the slako cars, when it was purchased from WA and brought to Melbourne it had a Walkinshaw body kit on it and the colour scheme was like the 1988 HSV cars but was pink instead of Red.
This is the 85 car I was referring to. We saw it at a GM owners day with a view to buying it some years ago. The person I referred to above actually bought it to WA along with our car and a container of spares and parts when HDT had a 'garage sale' at the end of '87 Here is our car as it is today... His autograph of the car (#14 is build number) And as at the race

No, That car was not written off, as it was driven again in the following race. Our car was pranged though at Oran park by Jon Crooke in the Pepsi 250 (co driving with Neil Crompton) after being converted to a VL (see page 67 and 70 of "the Great Race 1987/88") It then placed 4th at Sandown before becominng the display car at Bathurst in 87.

another Porsche

What happened to the Alan Hamilton Porsche 924 GTR that Brock, Richards, Bond failed to qualify for Le Mans, about 1981 (?).

Sold by Hamilton as a turbo 944 after Colin Bond drove it for a couple of years.

This would be a difficult one to track, as it was only leased by 'Team Australia' from John Fitzpatrick Racing for the 1984 Silverstone 1000km & Le Mans 24 Hours. After that it was probably rented to someone else, painted up differently etc etc

There was of course a #34 Bob Jane/Penthouse entry in the 1984 Sandown 1000km, prepared by John Fitzpatrick Racing running a similiar paintjob and driven by Andrew Miedecke & Colin Bond, but i believe was a different car to the Le Mans car.

The Bob Jane T Marts Brock/Perkins 956 as raced at Le Mans in 1984 was written off at Silverstone in 1985 - salvage parts were then used in the construction of 962-112.

Unless I am mistaken, there were 2 ex-JFR 956's raced by the BJTM Brock/Perkins team... one for Silverstone, which became the Allan Grice-driven Rollei car at LeMans, and the one cavvy mentions above...

Crikey, cavvy! Is there ANYTHING you can't track down?!?

The Silverstone and Le Mans cars were indeed two different chassis: according to Phil Scott's recently reprinted article from Le Mans 1984, the second was better than the first, but it was still not quite a gem of a car...

One of them had had 8 different liveries before the BJTM orange went on, so they were well-used.. I hadn't heard about the Grice connection though.. learn something new every day in here!

Just been going through some of my books, best read again is David Hassall's "the Peter Brock story"

Listed some odd ones in no particular order

Rally cross XU-1 - how many where there ? did hear that one ended up in
Tassie as a Sports Sedan and was not with B & D Autos

B & D Autos XU-1 - Know as the Plastic special or the Beast(before the V8
one) was crashed by Tim Smith into a tree at Baskerville
and the body went to the Glenorchy tip, running gear
went to various cars in Tassie. Was the first car to run a
Phil Irving Alloy head

B & D Autos L34 - also raced by John Harvey, Bob Morris, Colin Bond and Tim
Smith. was sold to Bob Forbes and painted in Andronicas
coffee shop colours.

Ken Girvans XU-1 - (Trident Plasitcs) Irving head would be sent from
Tassie to be put on this car when Peter would drive it.

HR or D Holden - was Phil Brocks car, believe Peter had a run at maybe
Winton or Hume weir.

V8 Beast XU-1 -

L34 Sports Sedan - Des Wall collection ?

F2 Barrina x 2 -

Bob Jane HQ Monaro - One off race at Calder, Car was painted with a skin
in HDT colours - Tino Leo

Porsche 911 (Reg Mort) - a couple of drives at Oran Park

Renault 12 - mid 70's celebrity race

Gemini - first Gemini series race at Calder 76
- Lakeside 82

HDT VC Brock Commodore - 1980 Calder - Race of Champion's

HQ Kingswood Rally car

Gemini Coupe Rally car

To clear up the story on the 75 Bathurst winner

Car was never really returned to road trim but was registered in Tassie as it last raced by Roger Stanley. Mick Rowell (speedway driver) puchased the car and I was told recently by Graham Parsons (Davids Father) that the car crashed near Latrobe speedway and was very badley damaged.

All the running gear was put into a road going car and is believed to still be about.

The remaining body was turned into a speedway car and is believed to be later destroyed in an ontrack crash.

Must say what a great job the Builder has done of the Replica that appeared at the Bathurst Brock Tribute
