Anyway, its good to hear that hotels marketing teams work hard, all the job being based on their customers habits. In England, you can be charged on an hourly basis. We have almost the same here, but its a minute basis! With some improvement we can expect a matter of seconds! Happy day!
Sounds like something the TV prog '60 minutes' should investigate!

The Alfasud was wonderful! I owned four between 1981-2008. The last one was a hatch, a 1.5Ti Green Cloverleaf, & it was amazing what you could carry in the back - in many ways more practical than my 156 Sportwagon.

A friend of mine has a Rochdale Olympic. Haven't seen it for a long time so can't remember if it is a hatch.

....and on the subjrct of cars that should have been, how about the glorious Austin Allegro?

Our very own Billy The Kid spends far too much time here anyway for someone studying at college. One of our elders needs to have a word with the boy, before he is lead completely astray by the reprobates that frequent this forum.

School was 5 miles away and required a 1 mile walk to the main road for the bus, then 3/4 mile walk in town to the school gate! In summer I cycled instead....

Seems Mike H’s tale of squeezing the whole family into a car, regardless of how many seats, has started a trend in Ipswich....

In my day riding to school was ok but riding from school was a great opportunity to challenge the buses. My bike was a blue Peugeot Gran Tourer, the one with a small front luggage rack and a square headlight -thanks grandma see U there!- may be 10 speed. The heaviest load to carry was my Gaffiot. You can't imagine the weight of a latin dictionary. Yes old buses were rather slow…

Just found the Renault TN6C2 data. Six cylinder, 8 litre and 67 hp at 1 600 rpm. I recall the noisy gearbox, probably straight cut and dog engagement!

Joking apart, many of my trips to and from school were on a Bedford coach like this... Definitely a ‘crash’ gearbox!

Hehehe at the age of 16 I gave up on the walking to the station, followed by the train from Byfleet to Surbiton and then bus to Kingston, and also started riding to school.

My bike was called a Triumph..... and it had a 500cc engine! (I had a Honda 50 for a month for passing my test but never took it to school) Too ashamed to park it next to my friends AJS and Matchless in the school bike shed!)

The heaviest thing I carried was my Fathers old briefcase with a few papers/homework, Autosport / Motoring News on a Thursday and my sandwiches in it. Strapped to the racing seat behind me.

Our local coach & taxi man in Holt, George Bennett, had a Bedford OB like that. It was known at school as 'Bennett's Bouncer'.

You dont get a huge amount of work at College.Only in 3 days a week.Every couple of weeks I get an assignment based on a topic that we've done and thats it.

Elders, who classes as one of those?

Mm I see this forum needs a cleansing or something, get out the rotten egg 😁.

I'm on this forum purely so I can keep up to date wih historics, socialise and to better my chances of getting experience in the World of work, whatever that is..!
Which have been quite good so far.

Left college early.Felt a pain/ache in my left arm like it was in the bone. Not nice... when listening to a tutor for a hour.
As my dad would say 'am I a snowflake'.
Anyway got assignment to do.I might put some questions on here, just for a laugh.

By the way, do you know if there is an official Sparco importer there? I often meet French representing a well known company involved in this field, but I'd like to go for another supplier…

Full list of exhibitors here: https://www.autosportinternational.com/exhibitors

Wait a bit, E.B, its a matter of minutes and Mike H will be back with the end of his panty story! I'm a follower, ya no

At the age of 16, we had what we called motorbikes too. Mainly they were Yamaha 100 Twinjet (remember the sound of this insect?) and a lot of 125 Hondas, single carb and pressed steel frame. Not very sexy. Mine was a special import a rare 125 SS, running on twin carbs and having a real frame coming from Germany with an ugly rear mudguard. Few brakes too. We didn't have any official importer so had to make a deal with the recognized ones. Very happy days!

Any motor sport catalogue selling Italian goods at this time of year is pure fantasy. The big retailers draw up their catalogues in late summer, Sparco, A-Stars et al dribble delivery through in mid December onward. It's been like that for years.
