Wow, Friday's trucks race was a burner wasn't it?

From Racer's roundup article:

In a race at Daytona International Speedway that saw a record 11 cautions, a record 55 caution laps and just nine of 32 trucks running at the finish, Austin Hill took the checkered flag on the 11th lap of NASCAR overtime to win for the first time in the series — in the Hattori Racing Enterprises Toyota that carried Brett Moffitt to the championship last year.

And apparently it was really 3 cars with rest running well off race pace at the end. And 11 laps of overtime?? Really? No team would have accounted for that much extra fuel in the truck

I hope both are wrecked within the first 20 laps.

If I'm not mistaken Daytona is the exception in 2019. I haven't read up on the exact details, but apparently there will be a different package starting with Talladega in the spring. Also, I think the non-plate tracks for the most part will be using the package NASCAR tried during the All-Star race last year.

Don't quote me on the above though, I haven't read up on it properly.

Edit - Found this site explaining the changes for 2019:

The start of the 2019 Daytona 500 is almost upon us. They're currently out on their pace laps.

I give it... 3 laps, tops, before we have at least four Fords at the front and the top 25 running single file.

Edit - Well, gotta admit the start has been better than expected.

Yep, good race so far. I'm glad I was wrong (well, so far at least). I'm guessing the warmer temperature has been a pretty big factor.

Better than I was expecting, just hope they get to the last 20 laps before half the field wrecks

Still not liking the segments, but this hasn't turned into the complete shat show it usually does. Hope not a jinx!

75 to go. Been pretty interesting with the mixed up fuel strategies.

Bummer for Johnson and Stenhouse, getting dragged into that situation.

Hopefully everybody will pit now so we don't have to see the field split into different strategies.

Edit - Well, with 20 to go they didn't waste many laps before they went single file. Sigh.

Caution though, for Larson spinning.

So dumb. Just popped into the broadcast to see the ending, and this crap just confirm why I don't watch Nascar and haven't for like 15 years. Restrictor plate racing = idiotic

I'll let a Victoria Justice GIF show how I've felt following this race:

Between wrecking in pit road (twice) and the big one, this is how this race has left me feeling.

Another wreck. That's good, because I'm not quite through cooking my steak yet.

Edit, just heard MRN say there's only 6 cars with no damage. What a great American race this is!

Nasty hit for the #24 there but it looks like he's ok.

And again the #22 just avoids it. Damnit.

Edit - Wow, that onboard camera on the #20. Amazing.
