DTM Avignon dropped

Autosport is confirming that Avignon has been dropped as they could not get permission for a street race (France has a law prohibiting them , apart from specific exemptions e.g. Pau and the Paris Circular ). It looks like Ledenon is going to be the replacement.

Well they're reluctant to, it depends if they can get the exemption and if all the parties agree, French bureacracy can be a bit difficult at times.

According to Autosport of last week, the Shanghai Putong street circuit is more likely to be the replacement.

Alesi is saying in this week's Autosport that it's Ledenon, which is a nicer cirucit than Shanghai, hilly so good viewing, maybe a couple too many chicanes tho. Easy enough to get to from the UK as well, Ryanair fly to Nimes quite cheaply.

So is the "no street" race a civic/city or national law?

If it's a national law, how can Ledenon put on a race if Avignon is unable to get permission?

As far as I remember, there used to be a "low" number of spectators in DTM races in England. (probably lower than a F1 weekend).

But maybe the amount of spectators might be better now that Paffet is amongst the top drivers?

Silverstone maybe? BTCC are racing there that weekend too, so if the DTM joined them that would make one great weekends racing, on the National circuit. (Although if DTM did join, it would probabily switch the meeting to either the International or Grand Prix track)

Ledenon is a lengthened kart track I think.Certainly not suitable for DTM or any major spectator event?

Ledenon is 2.1 miles [www.ledenon.com] and has the FFSA SuperSeries (GT, touring cars etc) and certainly more suitable for DTM than Adria was!

One of the worst tracks to visit in Europe. Stands are far from the track, loads of fences in between and a dull track

How I would love to see DTM cars around the Brands Hatch GP track - don't you think that'd be awesome!

Indeed it would, although I'd hope that in that case they wouldnt be so strict about contact.

DTM should race in Macau, not Shanghai. If DTM has to go to Shanghai, then go to the F1 track.

Let the WTCC race in Zhuhai with the FIA GT instead.

I would prefer WTCC more then DTM in macau
at leasr WTCC seem to have a brighter future in case of Opel leave and MG didn't have a start yet,
and that is a only street circuit for WTCC(Helsnki round seem to be not confirm yet).
and i am wonder can DTM cars run fastly in hill..........

but i am no oppose that DTM should go to F1 Track if they to go to Shanghai

I agree with you, the DTM cars are more highly advanced and prepared so I think the F1 track is more prestigious and fits them better. As well, since the DTM cars are more powerful, the F1 track would allow them to stretch their "legs" more.

The Macau is a bit more simple/"down to earth" so the WTCC would loook more at home there.

Though historically, DTM (GroupA) and ST cars have both ran at Macau.

in fact the size of car is a bigger problem (especially in Hairpin), more than car spec.Otherwise they shouldn't go to norisning (but their is very wide and 0. elvation for sure)

WTCC races are too short for Macau, only 8 laps per race. Last year was the best example. Every crash ends with safety car and the safety car led about half of each of the two races.

in fact the races not too short for macau ONLY,it is for the series.
I think all the friends here wish KSO(FIA?) will extend the race distance in future and I think they will do that soon.

Moreover this year Macau round seems to be add 1 more lap in each leg.
Hope they can make it is progress in beyond
