I've managed to get some photos of the car at Bathurst in various years, but not one photo from an ATCC round. Anyone, anyone........?

Although I can't help you David please feel free to put pictues up you have of your car during the rebuild, updates, stories or anything...When do you expect to hit the track in it?

OK, no promises, but somewhere I might have the original press kit for that car's debut at Bathurst in 1984 - is that the same car?
It was the car that went on to be a rally car. It was in pretty sad shape last I saw - you'll have a good job ahead of you. If you contact Chevron Publishing, they might be able to help with pictures. If I get a chance, I'll see if I can scan those pix from The Great Race. Hooray - another car survives! |

Bob Holden built several Sprinters, the first one debuted at Bathurst in 1984 and is rumoured to be the first issued with a CAMS logbook for Group A.
My car spent a couple of years as a standard street car and was converted to a Group A touring car by Bob Holden in 1986 and did Sandown and Bathurst that year. In 1995 it was converted to a rally Car and later became a rally school car. Since 2003 it has been undre restoration to it's Group A racing trim. I haven't set a dealine or a timetable for it's completion. A lack of spare time and mechanical ability mean it's going to be a while. |

In terms of Bob Holden cars, there were 2 built from memory of the various Great Race books.
The first is the one that debuted in 1984 and went thru a number of Group 'A' logbooks as it was delivered across the world and back at Spa and Bathurst and the rest of the ATCC... and survived the "dance of the sugar plum Corollas" in '87 to win its class The 2nd team car, I suspect is the one David Paterson is talking about, a car built for/with Wayne Bell, that became a Group 'A' unit. Here it is at Amaroo Park, in one shot hidden in the shade.. ahhh for simpler times! |

Thanks for those pics GTR. I can clearly see that the first car is not mine, because the roll cage is quite different. My car is the second one, which wears #51. The pics appear to be from an ATCC round at Amaoro, but are they 1988 or 1989?

The pictures are definitely from 1989. Bob Holden ran Bill Buckle sponsorship in '89, and Matt Wacker's ex-McLeod VL is in the background. If all the photos are from the same meeting then, at a guess, they're from either Rd.1 of the '89 ATCC or Rd.3 of the '89 AMSCAR Series.

I've now got pics of my car from the '87, '88 & '89 ATCC, but still no '90 ATCC. Oddly, this was the year it did the most rounds, 6 out of of 8.
Many thanks to those who have already posted/sent me pictures. |

Just an idea, David, but have you thought of trying to contact Mike Conway to see if he has any photos of the car from that year?
