They're not exactly spoilt for choice as far as circuits go though are they? If you compete in the British and BTRDA events you can be a bit more selective and knock the longer journies on the head.

Yeah, ditto for me. Perhaps I'll have stronger feelings after seeing an electric car in action, but I am neither excited nor annoyed by this news at the moment.

Might put another car or two on the grid and could be a good way to introduce us to electric. I am sure the electric cars will evolve quickly, so they could be on the pace of the National Supercars.

I have mentioned it a few times on FB and the like and got zero response, so I suspect that idea has been filed!

Yeah, not ideal if you are a rallycross fan in the North of England. As Bert says though they aren't exactly spoilt for choice in the UK now and I think (perhaps mistakenly) they are aiming for a broader RallyX Nordic style Championship with 5 Nations.

Okay this one wil run in SC class but still.
If they're running in supercar then it's not really another class though, is it? I suspect it'll be Natalie and maybe one other part time entry anyway.

I'm intrigued to know how the championship can avoid having events at the same tracks given that there are only 3 rallycross circuits on the 'mainland'. They're either going to have to accept some overseas events, have a 3 round season, have some duplicates or a mix of both. Mix of both seems the best option to me.

Or the south tbh. A solid 5hrs to Lydden and 3.5 to Pembrey for me.

I can't wait to see electric rx cars on track. They are probably a bit too heavy to put in the best lap times but off the line they will be the quickest. Plus you can't stall them.
Barrett's hoping to put a 2 car team together, budget permitting. Wouldn't be surprised to see more than that compete.

I'm wondering what infrastructure/training for marshals need to be put in place to safely deal with damaged electric cars.

There's definitely enough demand for another rx circuit on mainland GB, it's just what circuit wants to step up. Maybe Croft will open up again in 2022??? I don't see how having 2 overseas rounds is sustainable, at least for support categories.

I saw that Andy Scott will be back in the Albatec 208 - so that's positive.

There were a number of drivers down to try the STARD (electric) Fiesta including Chris Hoy, Matt Neal and Tom Onslow-Cole. Liam Doran and Hal Ridge also drove the car later in the day.

No doubt it is fast. Can't see an electric Supercar inspiring as much passion as a combustion engined car, but I don't think it is unfeasible to think that an electric car could be a National Championship winner in the right hands.

Few regulars plus a handful of new cars on track (most of those were BTRDA), plus Andy Scott, Tristan Ovenden and Kevin Procter. Didn't get a chance to speak to Procter, but I hope he is back this year: he spent most of the day throwing his Fiesta round Paddock bend.

Few shots from the test day at Lydden...

Really like the new livery on the Albatec 208, looking forward to seeing more of that this year...

...and also cool tribute livery on the Lee Wood Escort as well.

Nice! The Albatec car will certainly stand out in that scheme, also really liking that Escort. Quick question - is the Focus that Chris langley was driving the same one that Mark Watson (not Mad Mark - the other one) had?

It's still owned by Mark Watson. 500hp+ turbo charged rwd.

And STARD ran the ERX car and will for Barratt and Hoy if they can get the funds to race this year

Interview Coley did with Doran is interesting, suggests he's going to be running one. Pretty sure it's a bit of a mickey take though

Thanks - that's one of those cars that vanished and has presumably just sat in a garage not doing anything, it'd be good to see it back out for the season.

97 entries confirmed for the season opener at Lydden:

https://www.rallycrossbrx.com/news/9...at-lydden-hill

11 Supercars
25 Retro (6 Retro/11 Super Retro/8 Retro 4WD)
7 Super National
4 RX150
4 Super 1600
8 Juniors
8 Swifts
18 BMW Minis
3 4WD BMW Mini
8 Electro

97 is arguably slightly less impressive when it is split across so many classes, but some good numbers for some classes there. Was hoping for a few more Supercars, but the quality is definitely there. Donnelly, Scott, Godfrey, Tohill and O'Donovan should deliver.

Notably no electric cars in the Supercar class? Budget not forthcoming for Hoy and Barrett?

I don't like to shoot new ideas down, but I still can't see the purpose of the 4WD Mini class. Pleased to see that the BMW Mini entries haven't suffered as a consequence. Disappointing numbers for RX150 as well.

Better turnout for the standalone electric class than I was expecting. Was really hoping for a STARD car (or two) though for a direct petrol/electric comparison.
