Nordic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sounds like the R8 will live on, as a road at least. Audi has choosen to use that name for its new Le Mans quattro concept car first seen 2003. The car will start to be made next year and with a five-litre V10 bi-turbo engine and FSI direct fuel injection, developing 610bhp at 6,800 rpm and 553lb-ft of torque availble from as low as 1,750rpm. Performance should be brisk. Could make a good GT1 car maybe?

I expect there will be a deisel option as well, maybe that one will be called the R10!

True, but that was the start of it all. VW / Audi - same thing. The new R10 Engine is a purpose build unit, the VW one was simply an experiment run by VAG, with an Audi diesel in mind

neither 04s teams have a buyer for their cars. Had Zytek not qualified for Lemans we would have seen a new LMP1, but with their qualification they need a motor that they know works

Would they consider a mixed program, R8H as the banker and the R10 Deisel for develpment.

But I'll believe what it is when I see it. I can't honestly see anyone of Audi's or VW's reputations wanting to spend that much money on development, over that amount of time, just for one season of competition.

I would have though it would be an LMP1 so it can go on as the R8 did.

Just my opinion.

That should be interesting...Hybrid eligibility ends 12/31/06. I highly doubt Audi would endeavor on a new engine and slot it into a Hybrid...

Think your getting the wrong end of the stick!

The works Zytek will be a hybrid, the Audi a full LMP1.

The hybrid option seems quite popular as both Lister and Creation have said much of the work can be carried over to a full LMP1 in 2007.

Mike, as Jag pointed out, I think you've got yourself wrapped up in the confusion yourself now!

mgrs went off at a tangeant in post #79 assuming I Love 04s was referring to Zytek (as he usually does!!). He was clearly sold a dummy since on this occasion I Love 04s was actually referring correctly to the car mentioned in the thread title. Read the thread back and you'll see where it all went wrong.

No, he was responding to my question, pointing out that at least Zytek had announced a new car, unlike Audi (at that time)

I am talking about Zytek not Audis in regard to Hybrids for 2006. Autosport reported that Zytek will run a new LMP1 next year - they are not they are building a Hybrid.

Now the way Zytek had it a few months back they were working on an all new P1, creation however are developing a hybrid. the fly in the ointment is oddly enough MG and the abortive DTM project

OT How would that work?

To the best of my knowledge, only three chassis exist (Zytek/Jota/DBA). So where does the fourth chassis come from if, as you say, it transpires that there are 2 Zytek and 2 DBA hybrids?

Creation have said they will look into building one themselves if they can find a buyer. Far fetched but its what they have said.

Not that far fetched if you asked me, Creation are well in bed with KWM Keiron Salter and Will who originally designed the Reynard (now Zytec) LMP675 chassis - they were the brains behind the whole thing......they did a new bodykit for creation and they got near the front row at LeMans......therefore if they can find a backer, I dare say Creation and KWM will build a cracker of a car

But it wouldn't make sense to build a hybrid, they'd surely go full ahead with a new full regs LMP1 tub and aero's. They have already said it's their intention to have their own LMP1 on the grid in 2007. This would simply bring the build forward.

Nasamax is the same family of car - and is of course a hybrid...

Zytek simply do not have time to build a new LMP1 car - they had to start the project on the 1st Nov at the latest - they missed that date so have now decided upon a hybrid. It will be a great contest to see who's hybrid is better, Zytek's or Creation's.

P.S. The article in re. Zytek new car Autosport was incorrect.
