that is always a difficult one - when I had my eleven I was always very aware it had its original ali body complete with the markings where the roof had been fiixed and frankly it did phase me on two counts - it woudl be very expensive to replace and it was part of its unique history. In a tin top which originated as a road car with no speacial history you can feel a little less precious. Having said that if you think it will cost something approaching EUR 190k to replace it might take some of the enjoyment away...
However I do agree that a sudden rise is often followed by a sudden fall and really these cars should only be worth the sum of the parts plus cost of assembly (especially in these days of continuation models).

Their time is coming, Al- get that baby on track! (Or sell it to me )

Here is a another- pretty colour, aint it!

Saw the French one in a mag...

Anyone looked at the Silverstone Classic Auction results? A lot of unsold cars. My fav, the 1973, very original, lhd, 2 owner Pantera was one that did sell- for £26.5K.

How much does a Continuation B16 cost new? £93K for a very well presented 'used' one sounds less than my guestimate....

And talking of tin tops- Simon, the Portugese Gp2 Escort RS1600 doing the rounds @ Euro 128K sounds good value after that Alfa.....

ACA do get some nice, shall we say, 'less exotic' stuff.

A55 van perfect for race team support. I used to enjoy driving Rover P5Bs when new, but pity the Super Snipe isn't an estate.....

Don't laugh but originally thought auction was Aug 3rd- tomorrow.

No way. If I had that sort of money, I would have had my own M6 refurbished. As it was I couldn't, so it's gone. Must change my pic!

I agree - if I had sme spare cash at the moment I would be putting my hand up for the A55 van. Put a Healey engine in and you have the ultimate Q van!

We had an A55 pick-up at the garage I started my motortrade career in (1967! ). Seem to remember having to fit new lever-arm dampers on front quite regularly, so not so sure about the Healey engine....

Isn't that what the racing saloon versions run? I saw about a year ago rootes van with Brabham tuning kit on it - it looked the dogs ... and on a similar vein I was pleased to see teh BMC transporter at teh Classic auction already in sevrice at Thruxton - the A55 from Julius' HRDC was using it as his transporter....

I expect the quality of dampers has improved since late 60s- or maybe not depending on where in the world they are made! Definitely potential for that van- maybe a set of (discreet) wider rims for starters

Group buy?

A Ten-tenths 'hospitality unit'? Well, the A55 only needs space for the tea urn, and a few crates of beer...

Me, I was tempted by another minimotor (for paddock transport)- My wife is getting fed up with 'her' garage being cluttered up by assorted Cyclemasters Minimotors and random bicycle parts).

Not an unusual thing in those days Mike,it was always possible to SEE when they needed replacing! There were some bump/rebound shockers that were fitted to some BMC model's at the time, fit straight onto a B. IF you could find them.

Corvette race car package?

Don't know whether it will be of interest to anyone on here, but a site I subscribe to sent me this link:
http://www.wyleshardy.com/details_si...&auctionid=935

Not of any interest to me, but if you know how to rebuild a chevy motor it could be cheap, maybe?

That car was originally built + owned by Bernie Chodosh for the AMOC run Anglo American challenge, so not App.K.
Believe then sold to Bartoldi brothers who ran it in different series including Heritage GT I think. Don't know what its ultimate spec was but the original engine was built by Real Steel and was a good 'un.
Anyone seriously interested pm me and I can put you in touch with Bernie.
