As well as Mikhail Aleshin getting a run-out in the Renault R29 for being the mid-season points leader, 2008 Euroseries 3000 champion Nicolas Prost will also get an outing this weekend..

and this afternoons times.
http://intranetwsr.alkamelsystems.co...20TEST%202.PDF both sessions were ended early by red flags, so the excuses for slower than expected laptimes will be plentiful! |

I dont know how many more races he can do.... unless somebody support him. |

worth pointing out that yet again it was a wet low downforce race... the different approaches and different driving styles were fascinating.

bit slow in tyre choices, my arse, most teams changed their mind at least 3 times on the grid once it started raining! it really was a tricky one to call but i think once they'd been out on the formation lap all those on wets realised it was a terrible idea. some even went for a full wet setup which was definitely a bit ambitious considering a) it's not spa and b) it was really patchy occasional rain until it properly chucked it down during the fr2.0 race.
but it was easy to judge when you weren't on the firing line |

berthon did an excellent job of keeping ricciardo behind, and ricciardo did superbly to make up for the drive through penalty. hopefully it'll serve as encouragement for berthon, his pace in testing hasn't always been reflected in his race results so far.
guerrieri got a penalty according to italiaracing in race 2, and had 10" added to his result dropping him back to behind panciatici. renaultsport haven't added that to the noticeboard on the timing site nor is there a final classification published on there, but that one point could be important in the long run for the championship title. on the other hand if aleshin continues to drive as well as he has done then it's his to lose! |

Guerrieri isn't even there definitely for the season, but at least he and Ricciardo are stopping it from being a cruise to the title for Aleshin. |

i think he will be. igor salaquarda isn't short of a quid or two and he'd be a muppet to let this championship challenge go. unlike other well funded daddy teams he's not scared of making his son look a bit slower, and in the end he could end up with a very nicely funded driver next year on the strength of this season. it's probably worth the investment!
regarding the penalty, i don't know but he slowed over the line with a puncture from contact with another car so it could very well have been for that. (i think it was with costa?) edit: while i'm here... interwetten and mendez played an absolute blinder by keeping him out there for as long as possible. once it became clear they'd made the right decision and the gap to the cars on wets was increasing dramatically it really was the smart thing to do - the worst he was going to manage was considerably better than the rest of the seasons results! i also felt a bit sorry for daniil move - i'm pretty sure he was on slicks so it could have been a good result.
