V8Supercars in Bali
V8's in Bali
It would appear that the series may be looking for a round in Bali from 2015. apparantly a new circuit is being built and thwy want the V8 series I guess like NZ this is probably a logical move for the series A reacent survey by Tourism Australia? showed thatabout a quarter of vacations within Australia were for a sporting event. so i guess this would fit with that result a week in Bali and a couple of days at the races, i can see myself doing that |

It would have to be called the Schapelle Corby 4200...
You could make the guards from kerkoben honoray race starters and safety car drivers. You'd say this to the grid girls over there - ee-lord gym-gecko guttee |

I'm guessing it could be a success, depending on how close the circuit is to the tourist areas. Last edited by FordCosworthPanoz; 15 Aug 2012 at 05:39. |

I think the more tracks outside OZ , the better...coz it rakes in more money = more money = more exposure = more exposure = better racing.

Another opportunity for Mr Cochrane to get his greedy little mittens on a small country's tax-payer's purse.
Hmmm... maybe they could name it after the target audience - The Dole Bludger 400 (Per Fortnight). |

Please note that this thread has enjoyed the comfort of a haircut.
References to boganista or similar will not be entertained. Mainly because they arent entertaining. Personal attacks are firstly counter to the FAQ's, and secondly absolutely as boring as all hell. The clever people work out how to argue against someone else's point without resorting to name calling. Please think before ye posts... End of rant... lets get back to the discussion! |

Absolutely.
I do laugh though when its mentioned how V8SA are an international super power with world wide impact and then they go race in Bali - thats all. |

You really really should not scoff at places like Bali, every major series has realised that region is critical to the sports future. I'd be amazed if Super GT didn't go too

Mr Phelps' Story Here seems to suggest that the circuit's promoters came to V8SA, not the other way round..

I don't have any specific figures to back up my opinion but it makes perfect sense to involve Indonesia as the next stop on the V8 supercars tour (it'd probably make more money out of the deal than bringing it to Texas next year) From what I've seen when I visited Bali and Java, the economy is growing there is a crap load of people with money to spend on flashy things they like. I guess its similar to Malaysia... The Sepang circuit hosts a number of global events that obviously benefits each series that go there. At least the government is willing to back these plans up, unlike say F1 at Albert Park where many in Melbourne want them gone. Again maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges, but if there's someone willing to host the big show, I welcome it

It makes perfect sense to go there for all parties. An Indonesian round, with a large economy and a huge population.
A series that has an Australian following, which is their largest, and most lucrative, tourist market. A purpose built circuit that can bring a variety of international categories to its shores. Another off-shore event for V8S that can boost their (very low) international credentials. A win-win deal all round. |

I'm surprised that they would stage a race in Indonesia, but I guess that a V8 Supercar race in the Philippines would not happen anytime soon...
