Absolutely!
Funny Mr Story says there isn't a lot of scope for engine development left, except both 888 and BJR are undertaking programs to do just that this year..

That was fantastic - obvious to see where Shane got his charisma and talent from.

Given the handicap of Shane's experience in the Red Bull car, I'd still award the win to the old bloke!!!

Interesting to hear Dr. Story talking about Dick having a partnership with Shell from the start of his career even though at times during Dick's first foray to Ford had Castrol and later Valvoline sponsorship.

Dick owned a Shell Service Station in the 70's and 80's while sponsored by the oposition. Hence the term partnership, not sponsorship.

Like him or hate him, you have to admit, Frosty is one of those people who genuinely appreciates every single thing he gets, not a common trait in people any more, this legend deserves more, as does Lowndesy

Lowndes deserves more what?

He is the most popular driver in the Series and probably does better financially than most and has had a fair bit of success and has well earned respect from most in the Australian motor racing fraternity.

He should have more success, he could have had 5 titles, and a fair decent chance he would have, 06 and 11. My opinion, he is the 2006 champion, he lost 2011 fair to Whincup, not dirty work by Jamie to win. Could have had 13 too if Frosty didn't make a little error, that all drivers have made. Lowndes could have been a lot more if spuds didn't ruin his races (Rick Kelly comes to mind)

Its odd that Lowndes hasnt had a championship for 20 years, Fortunately he has won quite a few races including the big one or he might be considered a bit of a failure

True, but remember Brock won "only" 3 Australian Touring Car Championships.

Bathurst success and and a magnetic personality can make up for shortfalls in other areas.

That's it pretty much, however he is one of, if not the most consistent driver, been in the top 5 since 2005, as for 2006 though, I don't consider Rick Kelly a champion, he may call himself one and the statistics may show it, but he isn't a true champion as he took his rival out to win

Peter Brock only won the championship three times near the start of his career then never won it again after that, much like Lowndes and he's considered to be one of the best of all time.

I wouldn't really consider 9 Bathurst wins to be all that outstanding, given the circumstances around a few of them.

What, 9 Bathurst wins isn't impressive, far out, 1 Bathurst win is impressive, I don't care what anyone says, if you can make the car last and drive well enough to pass the line first, then you have had an impressive run, especially at a track that kills cars if you make an error

Given the reliability of cars at the time and the way they had to be driven, Brock's record is impossible to compare to anybody that wins today.

The things you refer to were in the rules at the time as they were and other people did it too - they just didn't win...

Surely a wind up? Otherwise that's a truly absurd statement.
