2013 Racing Calendar for New Zealand

Is there any hint on what the calendar will look like for 2013 in New Zealand?

I'm going to book my flights to OZ in the next few days and was thinking of filling up the time between the 12 hours of Bathurst and the Australian GP with a few weeks on the North Island.

Hampton Downs web site has nothing listed yet for next year. I'm looking to volunteer a few weekends at the end of February and early March.

cheers,
--Russ

Subscribe to the Hampton Downs newsletter and the Motorsport Club and you'll get several dates.

Due to the works at Pukekohe, the end season calendar has been messed around quite a bit. We have a meeting at Hampton Downs April 21st and now HRC now have two one day meetings at Pukekohe, the following 2 weekends, end April beginnng of May, changed from February 23/24th.

From January to early May, the dates are published.

Any hassles, send me a PM.

there was a week this March that I flew every day on a day trip out of AKL

got to see most of the north island from the air... it cost me more for the airport shuttle than all the flights

best part is the AirNZ Lucky Seven lottery, got pretty much all of my money back, air bus express included

Look into the Festival of Speed events in the South Island. They're on around that time of Year. Usually Skope Classic at Ruapuna (ChCh) down to Teretonga (Invercargill) and then back to Levels (Timaru) or something like that. 3 classic meeting in 4 weeks.
Do they still do the Dunedin hill climb?
Maybe contact someone at the Canterbury Club Club to fill in the details

Deb will sort you out!

SuperTourers on at Hampton Downs on February 16th and 17th - there will actually be cars, drivers and spectators at that meeting.

To be fair, the festival of speed event draw a good crowd and a mix of characters and machinery in the pits

I worked the two weekends this year celebrating BMW M-division... there were quite a few BMW M1's racing around and a whole slew of other cars that apparently made it over from the museum in Munich.

The more the merrier from the UK...

Maybe they'll learn how to put on a great day's racing withouth being tied to the clock? Going through a lot of old race programmes at the moment and to use Mallory as an example, a day's racing was usually 6 practices, just 6 races and finished about 5:30pm or later.

Contrast that with NZ with 6 practices and 18 races as the norm for a 1 day meeting, so a lot more entertaining for marshals as well as spectators (not to mention far better value for drivers). Free paddock entry too.

If it's a long thread it should eventually be on topic

Speed cafe have just put up the provisional 2013 V8 Supertourer calendar.

http://www.speedcafe.co.nz/2012/11/0...onal-calendar/

Wonder what the Auckland special event is? And fingers crossed the South Island enduro is at Highland Park, would make for an awesome 'boys' weekend.
