Fujitsu Chassis?

There are a couple of chassis in the Fujitsu series that I do not know the history off. If anyone can assist me in identifying the chassis, I would be most grateful. The list is from the entries at Wakefield Park

I believe the McGill car is the former Walden ex Seton AU, while the Hunt AU is the ex DJR unit ( DJR#9?).

Stones Perkins car would be PE#32, Pappendell has PE#36 and I think Egglestone's is PE#33.

Dean Savage's would be the ex Gardner/Smerdon/White unit PE#34.

Kayne Scott has TD#003.

Pretty sure Porter's unit would be HRT#41.

I don't know the origin of Ben Falk's car.

Thanks Pete60,

Agree with all the Perkins Chassis.

I was not sure on McGills AU, Hunts AU. Porters car I think could be HRT041, but hearing about SCAR being short of spare cars after Adelaide and McConville having a brand new car made me wonder if they sold two of the old nails over the summer break.

Do you know if SCAR still have the following cars:

HRT042, HRT046 & HRT047 + new chassis??

Thanks again for your help.

And car 61 - Marcus La Delle - Uses DJR AU12 (It is the car he crashed in Adelaide, and it should be repaired in time for Qld Raceway)

Is the Terry Wyhoon car, the SBR car that became the 00 green eyed monster?
The no.80 Tanton car (ex McLean) - is it the ex Wheel?

Don't know! I think Murph's car is still #46. Yeah, I don't know why they are short of cars with that lot in the shed!

Don't WPS have that? The Whyhoon car and the sister car are ex-PCR...One is the QLD 500 winning car I think.

No the Wyhoon/Neville machines are SBR#2 and #3. SBR#1 became GMS#12 and presumably is still owned by Mr Forbes. The green eyed monster was GMS#14 and again Mr Forbes presumably still has that piece of V8 history.

The car Wyhoon punts around in the ATCC ( or used to until recently) and which is forever described as "ex Craig Lowndes" is in fact no such thing...it is the old Colourscan unit sold to GMS and which became GMS#11. It was run by Rodney Forbes but never by The Kid.

Tanton's car is the Greenfield unit built by Paragon and was the subject of a court injunction, when McLean signed up VIP as a sponsor. The older McLean car was the ex PWR#1, which is now run by John Henderson.

Sorry, that's not right! PWR#1 is the Chance of a Lifetime car...where is that now????

Henderson runs PWR#2, the former Tim Gordon machine.

That sounds pretty damn correct. Bob Forbes must have a car or 3 in his stable

My sixpence worth:

13 Colin Seidlers AU - is one of the Tratt cars. One was sold to Adam Sharpe in the UK, so presumably this is the other one although not sure if it is the Paul Little Racing or John Briggs Motorsport built car.

24 Nigel Stones VX - is Perkins 031 the 1st VT that debuted at the Calder 98 round and won the Sandown 500. After being used by Ingall in the 99 series it was sold to M3 Motorsport and raced by John Cotter, Peter Doulman and Bob McDonald until 2004.

35 Mark Papendell VX - is Perkins 036, Ingall's 2000 car and then sold to Team Kiwi at the end of that year joining chassis 035. Not sure which races it was used at but was definately the car used by the team in the 2nd half of 03. Raced by Mark Porter in 04 Konica series and in at least one main series round.

36 David Clark BA - is the car built by Ellery Motorsport for the 05 series and driven by Mark Porter

38 Ben Eggleston VX - is Perkins 033, built for Wayne Gardner Racing at beginning of 99 and then raced by Dougal McDougal from the Sandown round in 99 until the end of 02.

40 Wayne Wakefield AU – may be ex Briggs JBMS004 that was built in 02 but not used and sold to Rod Dawson.

41 Chris Pither AU - was built by Ellery Motorsport and debuted at the 01 Queensland 500. After being used by Ellery in 02, it became Luke Youlden's Konica car in 03/04 and Gary McDonald's Konica car at the 04 Bathurst and 05 Adelaide rounds.

44 Adam Sharpe AU - Adam Sharpe Motorsport had an ex Howard ex PWR AU and an ex Tratt AU in the UK in 05, presumably it is one of these. I think that Howard Racing owned PWR02/04/05.

57 Dean Savage VY - is Perkins 034 built for Wayne Gardner Racing in 99. Sold to Chris Smerdon in 00 and then Matthew White in 01. Raced by White, Dale Brede and Dean Wanless in Konicas from 01 - 04.

70 Geoff Emery VY - is Paul Morris Motorsport Bamm Bamm chassis used by Morris in 02/03, Alan Gurr in 03/04 and Lee Holdsworth in 04/05.

72 Nathan Pretty VY - is Gibson Motorsport chassis 010 raced by Steven Richards in 00, Paul Dumbrell in 01, Robert Smith in 02, Owen Kelly in 03, Holdsworth & Gurr in 04.

77 Shane Price VZ - is Perkins 042 the Tratt car from 04/05. Was raced at 06 Melbourne GP by Dumbrell

78 Jack Perkins VZ - is Perkins 040. Raced by L Perkins in 02, S Richards in 1st few races of 03 and after conversion to VY by Dumbrell in 04/05.

80 Barry Tanton AU - I think this is the Rod Dawson owned car that Wakefield raced in 04/05 having been built by Paragon Motorsport for Cameron McLean in 01.

98 Tim Monte VY - is Garry Rogers Motorsport VX04 used by Garth Tander in 01/02, leased to Team Kiwi for 1st few races of 03 and raced in 04/05 Konicas by Grant Elliott.

100 Kayne Scott VZ - is TD003 the infamous Woomera car. Was raced in 05 by Max Wilson.

111 Mark Porter VZ – I believe PWR had 4 chassis last year, HRT 041/2/6/7. I think they started 05 with 2 while the others were converted to full VZ specs. According to the V8Supercar website McConville is driving 042 and Murphy 046 this year. I think after the Adelaide round where both cars were heavily damaged, McConville used a spare. I am fairly sure that PWR have yet to build any new cars, according to an interview with Murphy on Bigpond matching the Perkins running gear to the HRT chassis has been part of their performance problem this year.

333 Matthew Hunt AU – is DJRAU9 that was raced by Radisich in 99/00, Steve Johnson at Bathurst in 00 and in the 1st few races of 01 and Greg Ritter in 01. It was raced in the 02 Konica series and at Bathurst by Greg Crick and in the 03 Konica series by Peter Gazzard. At some point ownership changed to Rob Tebb.

Regarding some of the other posts, Gibson Motorsport had 4 AUs:

GMS11 was the ex Colourscan car that Forbes raced in 01 and at the Eastern Creek round in 02. It was also raced by Crompton at the Melbourne GP. Now being raced by Terry Wyhoon in ATCC.

GMS12 was built by Stone Brothers at the beginning of 99 as SBRAU1, being raced by Bright in 99 and Baird in 00. It was raced by Lowndes until the Queensland 500 and again at Indy in 01 and at Eastern Creek in 02. It remains in Bob Forbes ownership.

GMS14 debuted at the Bathurst in 01 and was raced by Lowndes till the end of 02. This too is retained by Bob Forbes.

GMS15 was built for the 02 season for Crompton, but to a lesser standard than 14. It was sold to Tony Noske in 03 and passed with the team to WPS in 04. It was only used by Neil McFadyen at the Bathurst Konica race in 04.

Does anybody know the history of the FPR BAs post 04? Three were built (in order) in 03 for Lowndes, Seton and Besnard. Besnard’s car was rebuilt over the off season and driven by Lowndes in 04. Seton started the year in Lowndes 03 car before stepping back into his own rebuilt car mid season. One stayed with FPR for Bright in 05 with the other 2 passing to Britek.

Also a number of former V8 Supercars are now running in the Australian Touring Car Challenge (www.touringcarchallenge.com):

Ryan McLeod ex John Faulkner Racing VX – last used as HYL car in 04
Dean Neville VX
Garry Wilmington ex Tony Longhurst EL – Longhurst 97/98 car
Terry Wyhoon ex Gibson ex Colourscan AU
David Krause ex Perkins VS
John Vergotis ex Glenn Seton AU
Shelton Loughrey ex PWR EL – presumably the ex Ellery 97 car ex Longhurst 96
Peter Vicary ex Matthew White AU – presumably the twin Betta car to that being raced by White. Vicary previously had DJREF7, Bowe’s 97/98 car.
Matthew Hunt – ex Terry Finnigan VS
Richard Mork ex Bob Forbes Racing VS – 1st built VN from 1990!
John Burke VS

I think the Seiders cars is the ex Briggs car, the PLR built car going to Sharpe.

Sharpe runs an ex PWR/Howard car here (PWR#5?), as well as the ex PWR and ex Tratt AUs he has in the UK. Howard sold an ex PWR car (#4?) to NZ last year.

Dean Neville's Commodore in the ATCC is ex Imrie Motorsport.

Richard Mork sold his ex GIO Commodore to John Burke. He now runs PE#025, which is the rebuilt ex Gearbox car crashed by Neil Schembri at Phillip Island.

Not sure about the heritage of the Krause ex Perkins car.....is it the former Rob Smith/Trucky Parsons chassis?

The ex White car run by Peter Vicary is the ex PHR/McLean/Thexton unit. White also owns one (2?) ex Briggs Betta AU which he runs in the Fujitsu series.

Evangelou's ex FPR car is chassis#1. This is the car debuted by Lowndes in 2003, rebuilt by FPR and run by Jason Bright last year before his new chassis (#5) debuted at Sandown.

Chassis #2 and #3 (debuted by Seton and Besnard) were sold to Britek at the beginning of 2005. A new chassis (#4) was built in 2005 for Greg Ritter. This was to be the spare this year...a new chassis (#6) being built for Winterbottom...but was pressed back into service for bright after the Clipsal bingle.

Did a little more research, both the Adam Sharpe Falcons were in action at Snetterton 2 weeks before Wakefield, so Sharpe's car must be a different car as alluded to by Pete60.

White's 1st AU was the ex Longhurst car. I think this may have been damaged at some point last year so White reactivated the sister ex Wilson car, with the former being slowly repaired.

I was wondering the history of this car myself when i was at Wakefield Park.
I believe it must be either a DJR or Briggs/888 unit as it had a yellow roll cage. As for chassis numbers i dont know.

I Think the Ben Falk machine is the car that Mike Olsen ran in the series in 2004. Its an Ex Briggs Machine, 2nd AU built by the Team in 2001 for John Bowe.

If Ban Falks car is a DJR AU, it would have to be DJR AU10, as all 4 other of the 5 AU's DJR Built are accounted for:

DJRAU9: First AU DJR Built, Radisich #18 1999/2000, Raced by Steve Johnson Bathurst 2000, and First few rounds of 2001. Now Mathew Hunt AU.

DJRAU10: Also built by DJR for start of 1999 for Dick Johnson, presumably also used By Steve Johnson in 2000, and shared with DJ in Qld 500. (Where is this now? the Falk car?)

DJRAU11: Built in 2000 for the Rat, stayed with DJR, eventually becoming on of the 2004 DJR Fujitsu Cars (Not sure if it was Jose's or Kelly's)

DJRAU12: Used by Steve Johnson (who took his first championship win in the car @ Canberra) for part of 2001 season before debuting DJRAU13, (after Ritter took over DJRAU09). Became Rat's car for remainder of 2001 & 2002. Became other DJR Fujitsu car, deregistered at end of 2004, followed by being re-registered for Qld Development series round as car #19 for 1-off race by Will Davison to 2nd overall (equal 1st on points) in 2005. Now Marcus La Delle #61, ran 2nd in practice at Adelaide (not bad for a 5 year old car), badly damaged at Turn 8 in race 1, missed Wakefield Park being repaired, will be back for Qld round.

DJRAU13: aka "Delilah". Brand new for Steve Johnson/Paul Radisich at Qld500 in 2001, winning on debut (in the sand trap, after the race was red flagged from a downpour, and the Rat ended in the turn 1/2 sand trap). Raced By Johnson for the remainder of 2001 & 2002. Since the end of 2002, car has remained at DJR in Shell #17 spec, as AU display in DJR Museum, occasionally taken for PR/Promo events (such as the Ipswich art Gallery Motorsport Exhibition, where the car is at the moment).

pete60 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
DJR#10 was bought by Craig Harris and run in Castrol colours. DJR had an option to buy it back so not sure if this happened. Otherwise, Craig has it in his collection, which includes the 1998 Bathurst winning SBR EL of Bright/Richards.

DJR#11 is run by Greg Smith in Fujitsu colours in the Fujitsu series.

I guess this points to Falk's car being ex Briggs, either the ex Cat car run by Mike Olsen in 2004 or the second ex Betta car owned by Matthew White?

Fairlane, you are correct. Verdnik has TD#001, TD#002 has been bought by the Protechnica team and Kayne Scott is driving TD#003.

M-Kart should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
DJR only have 2 AU's in house now, DJR AU12 (La Delle's Car) and DJR AU13 (The qld 500 winner, ususally residing in djr's museum). so Craig Harris must still have DJRAU10.

When Brede drove the 2nd car in Harris' team, what car was he driving? (the Gulf Western car with flames from 2002) was this DJRAU10 and Harris had a new car? or was this a car sourced from elsewhere?

What are the origins of Harris's castrol AU from that year? (with a white interior)
Are the harris cars from 2002 different cars to the Gulf western Car that Grice/Doulman raced as car #87 in gulf western colours for 1 lap at bathurst in 2002?

The Castrol AU with the White Interior was Built from the ground up by Adam Deveroux along with the Harris Team. The AU that Grice/Doulman ran was the Ross Halliday ex Briggs/Cat Car.
