Mini Tempest rally - Deepcut 29th December
https://scmc.co.uk/motorsport/mini-tempest-deepcut/
If anyone on here has entered and needs a gofer please PM me as it's a non spectator event and I'd love to attend. Last edited by justracing; 6 Dec 2018 at 20:00. |

read today on fb it's in great danger of being cancelled due to lack of entries, they need 10 more to make it viable.

Real shame if it does get cancelled. The Sutton and Cheam events are always well run and they're clearly trying to find new venues to use (although Deepcut is a one time only chance as it's being turned into houses). They've lost Longcross, Longmoor and the forests around Aldershot over the last few years, I'm not sure they'll go back to Bramley camp but hopefully they can find somewhere else to run (ideally Longmoor gets the all clear again - we can but hope).

I understand they have 35 entries now(30 being the minimum to run the event), so hopefully the event will go ahead. I spectated at the last Tempest rally but there is no spectating at this event. Still looking for a way in to this one.

I say it every time the Tempest gets mentioned, but I'm still gutted it is no more. Was so good to have a gravel rally in the South.

The Tempest is the only gravel rally I've competed on (in a 205 Rallye) - certainly a very different experience to tarmac in the Escort! We used to have the Rally Of Kent just up the road but that's gone as well due to the loss of available forest mileage. Events in the south east are certainly thin on the ground so any new ones like this are welcome (even if it's a "one time only" event). The other problem we have is the 'local' events are quite close together - Brands is January, Goodwood and Snetterton are both February - doesn't give us any time to save up the pennies between the events and if we have a problem on one then we're not likely to get it fixed for the next.
If you're wanting to see the action at Deepcut you could marshal - I'm sure you'd be made welcome. |

Thoroughly enjoyable day marshalling on the Mini Tempest. Thanks to both Sutton & Cheam and Craven MCs plus the competitors. Certainly a venue with a lot of potential so who knows.....

Glad it all went off ok - from what I understand it was very much a "one time only" event as the site is due to be demolished and covered in housing.
