MG Car Club International Festival (22-24, June, 2007)

22 to 24 June at Silverstone. Friday practice day, Saturday and Sunday racing on the International Circuit.

I'm told my entry for the final race of the weekend (allcomers 45mins) is accepted so as usual the "MG Capri" will be out to play.

Anyone else going to be there?

Peter, is that the only race you are doing? I want to do that one as my mate is in it but don't fancy hanging around all weekend for it. If I can just do that one I may not bother with Saturday's race and just go up on Sunday.

Yep the only race. I'm going to enjoy a relaxing Saturday and be a punter for the day. I'll be there on Friday for a bit of a run out though.

You should try to make it, Suze; good grids, great racing, plenty of infield displays and good atmosphere. We gave it quite a bit of cover last year so if anyone is interested in getting a flavour of this meeting, take a look here:-

Peter ,Ron Gammons has been chasing me to do the"FIA" Race. If there were a guarranty that it would be FIA,then yes ,I,d do it,otherwise ,no chance. They want as big a grid as possible ,all Fia "B"s,I think I might feel a bit out of place.

Where can the regs be found? What cars are eligible for the endurance races?

Try www.mgcc.co.uk, you can even enter online.

Alas we'll miss it this year, FISC Spridgets are at the GP de l'Age d'Or at Dijon.

Its an allcomers race and open to anyone who belongs to a recognised club. I'm a member of the MGCC so I get the mag and news early. I think Ken clarke is entering his Dolly in this race. It usually has all sorts from the Newer front drive MGs to the full race Bs and Midgets. Last year we had truimph TRs, Morgans and other stuff out too.

I use it for two reasons. It gives me an excuse for a blast on one of my favourite circuits and I get to spend a weekend wandering around the paddock and stalls picking up bits for the MG.

I've taken a look and it seems I could run my Corvette in the Thoroughbred Sportscar Championship. It is an FIA car. Is that correct?

Roger,

It would be great to see the Corvette out in the Thoroughbred Race. I understand the grid is filling up. Give Pam McCarthy a ring on 0208 641 5294 and tell her Steve Watton said to give her a ring. I'm sure she would be happy to see the car out there.

Unfortunately I'm at Dijon that weekend but may try to get it out for one of the other events this season. Thanks for the contact.

The thoroughbreds usually have a class for FIA cars, although I think it is dependent upon capacity to a certain extent as well. As Steve says, contact Pam because they are a good bunch and will accept most cars that fit in with the general vibe of the championship - that's why the regs were changed this year to let the Morgans in. They aren't too fussed about papers, but having said that it isn't a bumper cars series. I've been out for just about every race for a couple of years and yet to see anything untoward.

And yes it would be fantastic to see a 'vette out there!!!!
